Not sure if there is a creature there, although I would like to think there was one at some point.I do believe there is creatures in the sea/lochs worldwide that are not discovered. I have a friend who is a fisherman who once told me about a creature caught off Elgin {not far from Inverness) He said it was like a very large eel. He said it was badly mangled and thrown back in. Chay Blyth who rowed the Atlantic also claimed to have seen a large sea serpent swim beside his boat for a brief time. If there is no monster in Loch Ness to see, you still have Boleskin House to visit......

Do you know how large the eel-like creature was?

The burning embers of Boleskine House I’m afraid.

Sorry not sure how big the creature was but I do remember my friend saying that none of the fishermen had seen anything like it before and that it had a flat distinctive head. This story goes back to the eighties before social media, phones etc. Fishermen from that area would not be seeking attention and although they are a no nonsense type breed of men they are not with out their superstitions.

Has it burned down? cause of fire? or need I ask?

The twelve Kings and Dukes of Hell, summoned by the arch-deviant Crowley but unbound for a hundred years and free to dance amongst the stones of the graveyard, hold unholy Sabbath on the ruins of the chapel and lure unwary travellers into the loch where their socks shall get uncomfortably wet, did curse the house and spewed forth the fires of Hell itself to burn it to a shell.

Or, a fire started in the kitchen.

adds to the legend though whatever the cause. Must say when I visited it a number of years ago I was less than impressed. I was thinking it would look like a Gothic mansion. Still Jimmy Paige apparently shit his pants staying there.

He's a bit cagey, though, isn't he? Why wait for a press conference in a while, why not now? Still, I'm watching this space.

This should be interesting! But I will bet most people will be disappointed when the results are negative for plesiosaur.

How would you even test for plesiosaur? I'm guessing there's not that many intact samples to compare it against...

It would be unknown reptile(ish). The fact that it wouldn't compare well with anything else would be indicative of weirdness. But, you're right, it wouldn't be a definitive call.

Oh.... is it time to think about booking a holiday in Scotland?

IMHO no - at least not yet ...

Gemmell's team didn't report their findings this past January as originally planned, for reasons that vary with the particular account one reads (see below).

It now appears the results will be revealed sometime this summer or perhaps in September.

Loch Ness monster study makes ‘surprising’ find

A scientific trawl of the waters of Loch Ness by researchers hoping to uncover the truth behind the myth of the famous monster has made a “surprising” finding.

Professor Neil Gemmell from the University of Otago in New Zealand, who led the study, said his team had managed to test most of the main theories about the Loch Ness monster.

While he declined to reveal exactly what they had found until the results have been fully analysed, he hinted the Nessie myth was likely to endure.

Prof Gemmell is preparing to announce the full results of his research almost a year after taking a series of water samples from the loch with the hope of capturing the monster’s DNA.

Prof Gemmell admitted that part of the reason for the delay in publishing the results was due to a series of failed attempts to film a television documentary.

I think the “surprising” finding from the study will be wels catfish or huso sturgeon eDNA.

They make great scapegoats! Coffee cold? Aliens. Miss a date with the Mrs.? = aliens.

Another reported sighting of Nessie...
There's certainly something in the water, however, to me it's not very monster like, but then I've never seen one so what would I know?

Gloria and Ian Davison had been visiting the Scottish Highlands when they spotted something in the loch.
The mysterious object, which was located in Urquhart Bay, resembled a black head and neck protruding from the water a short way out from the water's edge.

"We have been to Loch Ness many times, but never seen the monster before," said Gloria.

"But at around 1.30pm [on Tuesday] just after we had lunch, my husband was driving and I was in the passenger seat gazing out at the loch. Then I suddenly saw something and I said to Ian 'there's something down there.'"

The former Highland home of occultist Aleister Crowley is to be restored and converted into a wellness retreat where yoga and meditation will be taught - as well as the teachings of the notorious religious leader.

Boleskine House on the south west banks of Loch Ness was destroyed by a fire in 2015 but has now been purchased by three as yet unnamed investors who paid a total of £500,000 for the property and gardens.

The Boleskine Foundation has now been launched to drive the restoration of the property with parts of the historic estate, which was built in the 1760s, to be opened up to the public.

Meanwhile, it is understood that the Boleskine Foundation has been in discussion with, Ordo Templi Orientis (OTO), a religious organisation previously led by Crowley, about giving access to its followers.
