Nominative Determinism

I do know for a fact that the name 'Nutter' is an old term for scribe, so hopefully one of them takes up writing. Also, 'Fitz' is an indication of being a bastard child, so get married to a Fitz, please.

Given that Bastard (pronounced b'stard) is a genuine surname, I wonder if there are any Fitz-Bastards out there?

There's a second occupational derivation relating to "keeper of oxen."

Furthermore ... The slang use of "nutter" to mean "crazy person" is attested only as far back as the mid 20th century, but there's a third occupational derivation relating to "one who gathers nuts" that dates back to the 15th century.

Man arrested for having sex on a plane flight. Goes by the name of Phil Mycock...

I must have related somewhere (probably on this thread, to be honest) that when I was at school anyone called Mycock (quite a common name around there) was expected, at least once a week, to not answer the register at first request.

Thence:

Teacher: Moore?

Moore: Sir.

Teacher: Morrisey?

Morrisey: Sir.

Teacher: Mycock?......MYCOCK?......WHERE'S MYCOCK?

They fell for it every time.

Another jolly jape was ringing a local shop where the lady on the other end would state in a singsong and blissfully deadpan voice:

Hello - Mycock's Electrical.

I may have mentioned this before but back in Russia in 1997 we were building a Pepsi factory on the bank of the Volga. The company that installed the process plant were called Linker Corporation (if I recall the 2nd part of the name correctly) Old man linker who started the corporation was one of Schindlers Jews. It brought home a little bit history and in some ways made it personal.

I'm sure I can't be the only person to notice how incredibly unfortunate the surname of the copper whose actions sparked the latest US riots is.
He was definitely living up to his chauvinistic name.
