Interesting that the worst possible thing these serious neurotics can find to say about people the thought of whom threatens their self-esteem is that they're pedophiles. Pedophilia is certainly a serious threat but is generally well-understood, there are ongoing successful efforts to catch perpetrators, (the temptation of the internet makes it easier) and community-level actions like teacher awareness are helping kids abused at home. Given the spread of qanon nonsense and the lack of the ability to think analytically and self- analytically involved I suspect that it has caught up a number of pedophiles. That would be an interesting counter-conspiracy to start. But is this really the worst they can think of to say about someone? Not that he or she has their hand in the pocket of working-class Americans and plans to set up a 1984 type state? I guess that's too complicated. I do think this was started as a joke.

Is Kayleigh McKenany sending secret messages to the QAnon conspiracy theorists? Someone has noticed the clock behind her when she is interviewed on TV has been standing on 10:10 for a week. Something was going to happen on Oct. 10 according to QAnon fans.. They were probably thinking of arrests of pedophile Democrats. But nothing special happened besides Trump's fan meeting on WH lawn.

Well, nothing happened on 10/10. Quell surprise. 10:10 is also the time clocks are set to in advertisements.

A good article on QAnon by two authors. One of the authors is part of the WuMing collective of the original Q book that probably inspired QAnon.

https://www.wumingfoundation.com/giap/blank-space-qanon/

At least one source of the QAnon myth is very likely: the Italian novel Q, published in 1999 and co-written by one of the two authors of this article as a member of the writers collective Luther Blissett. It was published in more than thirty countries, including German and English translations. The novel is set in the Reformation period and tells the story of a secret agent who spreads disinformation messages under the name “Q” and – just like the Q of “QAnon” – claims to have access to the highest political power and secret information. In the novel, Q’s letters persuade Thomas Müntzer’s Protestant peasant warriors to fight a battle in Thuringia in order to expel aristocrats and bishops for good. This battle however turns out to be a deadly trap. The “Q” of QAnon plagiarizes this, too, when he claims that the “storm” of a final battle is imminent, in which Trump will liberate the USA from the “Deep State” and the liberal elites.

A Warning For President Trump-Open Letter From Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano – The Northwest Connection.
Did you know there's a Catholic Archbishop who is 4-chan-level blackpilled on the Deep State and the Bill Gates Covid Plot?

A global plan called the Great Reset is underway. Its architect is a global élite that wants to subdue all of humanity, imposing coercive measures with which to drastically limit individual freedoms and those of entire populations. In several nations this plan has already been approved and financed; in others it is still in an early stage. Behind the world leaders who are the accomplices and executors of this infernal project, there are unscrupulous characters who finance the World Economic Forum and Event 201, promoting their agenda.

The purpose of the Great Reset is the imposition of a health dictatorship aiming at the imposition of liberticidal measures, hidden behind tempting promises of ensuring a universal income and cancelling individual debt. The price of these concessions from the International Monetary Fund will be the renunciation of private property and adherence to a program of vaccination against Covid-19 and Covid-21 promoted by Bill Gates with the collaboration of the main pharmaceutical groups. Beyond the enormous economic interests that motivate the promoters of the Great Reset, the imposition of the vaccination will be accompanied by the requirement of a health passport and a digital ID, with the consequent contact tracing of the population of the entire world. Those who do not accept these measures will be confined in detention camps or placed under house arrest, and all their assets will be confiscated.

Here's something: an apparent trial run of Q from 2012. Note the subject (mass arrests predicted) and username ('QANONPERU')

Edit: apparently not such a scoop, archives show that the author changed their username several times and this was originally posted under the byline 'lightworkerxm'

In all seriousness...does anyone take QAnon seriously other than the nuts in the Republican Party....?

Yes, people do. As I've said before it isn't just an American rightwing disease there are plenty of people around the world that hold professional qualifications who believe a large part of it.

These are people trained to employ critical thinking and yet believe QAnon is a thing and are very vocal about repeating it.

OK...and who are some of these people who hold professional qualifications..? do we have names?

Good article:

When I saw QAnon, I knew exactly what it was and what it was doing. I had seen it before. I had almost built it before. It was gaming’s evil twin. A game that plays people. (cue ominous music)
QAnon has often been compared to ARGs and LARPs and rightly so. It uses many of the same gaming mechanisms and rewards. It has a game-like feel to it that is evident to anyone who has ever played an ARG, online role-play (RP) or LARP before. The similarities are so striking that it has often been referred to as a LARP or ARG. However this beast is very very different from a game.

I was watching CNN this morning and while they didn't say this the comments by the new research about how it disprupts American democracy in key ways makes me wonder if this is a Russian or Chinese backed group (and not American idiots) to destabilize the US.

THe Kraken:

Lawyer Sidney Powell - who was until recently part of Donald Trump's legal team and is now acting independently - has described the case she was mounting as a "Kraken" that, when released, would destroy the case for Democrat Joe Biden having won the US presidency.
Ms Powell has claimed Joe Biden won the election because of "communist money"
However, once the documents, almost 200 pages of them, were released, it became clear they consisted predominantly of conspiracy theories and unfounded allegations that have already been widely debunked.
Some of these claims have already been rejected in court cases, while others - such as accusations that voting machines are part of a plot originating under former Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez - are not backed up with any credible evidence.

The Kraken: What is it and why has Trump's ex-lawyer released it? - BBC News

Here are the passages linking this news story to the QAnon conspiracy (the subject of this thread):

Pro-Trump groups including QAnon conspiracy theorists have amplified the idea under the hashtag #ReleaseTheKraken, and it's being widely shared by those supporting the legal campaign to challenge the election results. ...

Ms Powell is closely followed by supporters of the QAnon conspiracy theory, who believe President Trump is secretly battling a deep state cabal of Satan-worshipping paedophiles in the Democratic Party, media, business and Hollywood.

NOTE: Read & Heed:
Future posts in this thread relating to US political / electoral matters that do not include or explain some sort of connection to the QAnon phenomenon will be construed as "politics" at face value and treated accordingly.

Neo-Nazis, QAnon and Camp Auschwitz: A Guide to the Hate Symbols and Signs on Display at the Capitol Riots
Here are some of the QAnon symbols present in the Capitol on Wednesday.
“Q”
“Q” represents the purported high-ranking government official who shares inside information with QAnon followers through cryptic posts on fringe websites. QAnon followers often wear T-shirts emblazoned with a huge Q — and several of them were part of the Capitol mob.
As Q’s supposed predictions have proven false over the years — including the election of Joe Biden, which Q predicted would not happen — many QAnon followers became disillusioned. Others told them to “trust the plan” and place their faith in QAnon’s theories. The phrase has become one of the conspiracy theory’s slogans.
“Trust the Plan” logos were also visible in the Capitol, referring to the “plan” QAnon followers believe is happening.
Save the Children
Messaging related to saving children is a core tenet of QAnon because it alleges a global pedophile ring. In the photo above, a woman carries a sign saying “The children cry out for justice,” referencing children who QAnon conspiracists falsely believe have been abducted by Democrats and progressives, including the Jewish billionaire financier George Soros.

the time has come for us to discuss the much vaunted QAnon, led by a shadowy online figure known as “Q.” The verifiably absurd, online conspiracy theory that has ruined lives and families, has seduced millions and even helped propel members of congress into seats. And it just inspired a violent occupation of our nation’s capitol hill. Marc-André Argentino, a PhD candidate at Concordia University who studies QAnon and someone who has become a leading voice on the extremist political movement, is on the show to talk Q.

And on the same blog we have the idea that QAnon is based on the novel: Q.

It’s based on....wait for it ....Q

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Q_(novel)

Coincidences are hard to ignore: dispatches signed Q allegedly coming from some dark meanders of top state power, exactly like in our book. This Q is frequently described as a Blissett-like collective character, «an entity of about ten people that have high security clearance», and at the same time – like we did for the LBP – weird “origin myths” are put into circulation, like the one about John Kennedy Jr. faking his own death in 1999 – the year Q was first published, by the way! – and becoming Q. QAnon’s psy-op reminds very much of our old «playbook», and the metaconspiracy seems to draw from the LBP’s set of references, as it involves the Church, satanic rituals, paedophilia…

The 4chan originator left the actual name of the book in as a meta reference. They didn’t even change the character’s name.

The authors are called Wu Ming, aka....anonymous. The entire thing is a self referential joke.

Reminds me of scientology, set up by L.Ron Hubbard, author of a book about someone setting up a fake religious cult lol

Id just lime to point out that if you go i to any clock shop, all or most of the clicks will read 10:10 or 1:50 as the hands make a happy face which is more appealing to potential customers as oppose to the hands reading 4:20 or 3:40 , sad face.

These are confusing times for followers of QAnon, a deranged conspiracy theory birthed in the bowels of the internet. They were told that Mr. Trump would be re-elected in a landslide, and that a coming “storm” would expose the global pedophile ring and bring its leaders to justice.

But there have been no mass arrests, and Mr. Trump is leaving office on Wednesday under the cloud of a second impeachment. Many prominent QAnon followers have been arrested for their roles in this month’s deadly mob riot at the U.S. Capitol. They are being barred by the thousands from major social networks for spreading misinformation about voter fraud, and law enforcement agencies are treating the movement as a domestic extremist threat.

These setbacks have left QAnon believers like Ms. Gilbert hoping for a last-minute miracle. Her current theory is that Mr. Trump will not actually leave office on Wednesday, but will instead declare martial law, declassify damning information about the “deep state” and arrest thousands of cabal members, including President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr.

A QAnon ‘Digital Soldier’ Marches On, Undeterred by Theory’s Unraveling - The New York Times (nytimes.com)

“These people aren’t drooling, mind-controlled cultists,” Mr. Rothschild said. “People who are in Q like it. They like being part of it. You can’t debunk and fact-check your way out of this, because these people don’t want to leave.”

Ms. Gilbert used to get push notifications on her phone every time Q posted a new message. But Q, who once sent dozens of updates a day, has essentially vanished from the internet in recent weeks, posting only four times since the November election. The sudden disappearance has caused some believers to start asking questions. Chat rooms and Twitter threads have filled with impatient followers wondering when the mass arrests will begin, and if Q’s mantra — “trust the plan” — is just a stalling tactic.

Ms. Gilbert insists that she’s a lone wolf by choice, but becoming a pariah has clearly taken a toll. She compares Manhattan to Nazi Germany, and speaks bitterly about the friends she has lost. (I talked to several of those former friends. They miss her, but can’t imagine reconciling with her in her current state.)
