So, the release of this book came to my knowledge (it's on Amazon):

I didn't know Vallée is now on the ETH side of the UFO debate.

Since it is disclosure time, here is mine: I didn't read it, I won't read it, but this cover is enough to base my review on:

Pathetic.

Now with the review out of the way, I wonder what the US is testing. I guess we will know in a couple of decades.

New Book from Jacques Vallée Claims Evidence for 1945 New Mexico UFO Crash

UFO researcher Jacques Vallée pulled his new self-published book The Best-Kept Secret on the day of its May 4 release. A new press release explains why: Jacques Vallée and coauthor and “exopolitics” researcher Paola Harris are self-publishing a revised edition on June 1 under the title Trinity: The Best-Kept Secret. The book will attempt to provide corroborating evidence for a story first told in the early 2000s about an “avocado-shaped” UFO crashing in San Antonio, New Mexico in August 1945, near to the Trinity nuclear test site. According to the book description and press release, Vallée analyzed a piece of debris that one of the witnesses claims to possess and will suggest that it is of extraterrestrial origin. ...

On Dr Vallee he has not used the ETH model for a very long time and this is clear in all of his later books and interviews ...so I would be surprised to see that approach taken in this new book of his. He once said he would be disappointed if it turned out to be simply space aliens.
But I suppose he might have switched gears if some new evidence came up but maybe there are two unknown phenomena.

It seems it was decided to anticipate the release:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B094ZQ1GW5

The book doesn't have an ISBN.

This is stunning if it's true....but is it? :thought:

If it's New Mexico, chances are it was a black project crash. According to the new research by Reuter et al, Kammler, the head of German secret projects, had already made contact with US representatives to deliver all the major projects some time prior to the German surrender, including of course the V weapons rockets and all of the staff including von Braun. I very much doubt any ET connection.

Very close to the Trinity site, of course.
Rather than an air crash, it might have been a ground-based incident - maybe a truck carrying radioactive material or sensitive instruments dropped its load or something. The Manhattan Project involved thousands of people, all working as fast as they could under difficult conditions- they could have had any number of accidents which would need to be kept quiet.

On the other hand, there were a very large number of air crashes during the Second World War not under combat conditions; the crash at Blackpool Central Station for example. Once again, thousands of people all working as fast as they could under difficult conditions.

Has anyone finished reading the Vallee-Harris book>? How about a summary or review?

Yes, these UFOs sure did crash an awful lot.

The latest one of course is the 'Trinity' crash story, recently promoted by Vallee (of all people) and Paola Harris in last year's book Trinity: The Best Kept Secret. This is a story with remarkable similarities to (ie. was probably largely inspired by) the Barnett/Anderson variants of the Roswell tale, and ultimately the Aztec story.

Vallee of course puts the spin on it that (spoiler!) the UFO and occupants were a message to us, meant to crash. Which I suppose neatly gets over the issue of why these things end up impacting the ground so much.

(Excerpted from the "Is Roswell Finally Dead?" thread)
Someone does but this was after the 1945 crash when the army was surprised and did not do anything to cover anything up until the whole thing had been cleaned up, and it was very close to the Trinity site a few weeks after the last test and before the drop on Japan. And that was visiting all the residents in the area and telling them to be quiet about it or they would be put in prison.

The story of an avocado-shaped UFO that crashed in the vicinity of the Trinity site in 1945 didn't surface until 2021, in the book Trinity: The Best Kept Secret by Vallee and Leopizzi:

One small correction: the Trinity story first emerged into ufology more generally in 2007, when Timothy Good included it in one of his books: it had originated in a local newspaper feature a couple of years earlier.

Vallee suggests the Trinity craft, entities and crash were all a symbolic message from a powerful intelligence to Earth scientists. I agree that these all-quite-similar crash stories probably do have great symbolic significance at some level, but I don't think you necessarily need to postulate anything more than the human imagination for their creation.

The 'Trinity' crash. This is a bit of an unusual one as the story only emerged in 2006 (IIRC) in a local newspaper piece and seems quite obviously inspired by the modern version of the Roswell 'legend'.

Why Vallee has taken an interest in this one in particular is beyond me, other than I suppose the fairly direct connection with nuclear testing. His suggestion is that the craft, entities and crash all in fact formed a symbolic message aimed at humanity's scientists.

The Trinity 'crash' is making headlines:

Mr Colavito is not amused:

Jacque Vallée Claims UFO Law Amended to Incorporate His Crashed UFO Claims

The text of the National Defense Authorization Act requiring the Pentagon to create a historical report investigating the U.S. government’s involvement with UFOs was quietly altered prior to final passage to change the dates covered by the report from 1947 to 1945 in order to force the government investigate ridiculous tall tales about miniature space aliens and an avocado-shaped flying saucer promoted by Jacques Vallée in his most recent self-published book, Vallée claimed in a Daily Mail interview after the bill was signed into law late last month. Vallée claimed that his “friends” in D.C.—by which likely means Chris Mellon, his top fanboy with government connections—pushed the change through on Vallée’s behalf.

Or his reasoning is no longer what it used to be.

I have this awful feeling this will just run and run like Roswell, with new 'witnesses', alleged deathbed confessions and grainy footage of what we are supposed to believe was the autopsy of the bu-eyed miniature aliens etc etc...

Seems to be characteristic of the 'crash retrieval syndrome'. I think we've seen something similar here with the Berwyn Mountain case and new 'witnesses' being unearthed.

Read the book, disappointed. It requires you take a huge leap of faith In not only the claims but the memories of gentleman now in their 80’s I believe.

I think my greatest fear with all of the UFO/UAP reports is not that their true but that its been US tech all along! If that’s true then the world has been deprived of incredible energy source so we could continue to support fossil fuels and the companies behind them, That Gov could support such an effort to deceive humanity whilst causing huge harm to the planet is a far greater horror than alien life.

You are not alone in your verdict:

"I will note that the sort of sloppy research engaged by Vallee is one of the reasons that we, in the UFO community, see little respect in the real world. Before the book was published, Vallee and Harris should have done the work that Douglas has now done. This tale is a hoax and it should be noted that it was we, inside the UFO community, who had worked to expose it."

This article links to:

"Apodaca’s visit to the crash site, his entry into the alien vehicle, all of the quotes attributed to him—they are all pure inventions by Reme Baca and Jose Padilla, inserted into their made-up story. Paola Harris never checked. Jacques Vallee never checked."

Baca seems to have been a plagiarist as well as a fantasist, making his story extremely unreliable.
