Odd Things Encountered On Mars' Surface

Strangely enough I can't find an ordinary thread for Mars anomalies, so I'll post it here.

Researcher Found The Ruins Of An Ancient Building On Mars

On the surface of the Red Planet, he discovered a certain structure that resembles the smooth walls of a man-made structure. The walls are interconnected, forming rooms.

According to the researcher, the discovered walls may be the ruins of a building belonging to an unknown ancient intelligent species.

Looks like a close-up of the ground. So it's really small, I'd say.

Well, I suppose it could be the remains of some kind of building. On the other hand, it could be nothing more than the eroded remnants of volcanic dykes. In my years as a mining exploration geologist in Northern B.C. and the Yukon, I saw plenty of those. Sorry, no photos.

There are two such threads nowadays - this one for Mars anomalies viewed from above / beyond and another one for strange things seen down on the planet's surface (e.g., by rovers):

Didn't find it when I searched. Move if you want.

You're right. Once I found a report on this photo that provided some actual info (unlike the notably uninformative Anomalien site) it seems these 'walls' are no more than a couple of inches tall.
The strange sighting was reported by Scott Waring in his latest blog post on ET Data Base. He said he saw the image of the alleged alien ruins in Gigapan, a website that showcases high-resolution images of Mars. ...

Based on the photo, Waring estimated that the alleged walls could be about a couple in inches high. Due to their small size, Waring believes that the walls and the entire structure were built by a race of small alien creatures on Mars. ...

I'm not a geologist, but here's my take...
I think the ground became fractured and due to the action of water, dissolved salts found their way up through the cracks - whereupon they formed wall-like crystal structures. Wind and sand erosion then broke down the 'walls' to what we see today.
An actual geologist may disagree, or may be able to elucidate further.

I really don't think I could call something a 'wall' unless it actually looked constructed.
Like this or this.

I admire the thoroughness of your post there, Trev. Not just giving one example of a wall, but providing a second image to illustrate your point. I guess that's an example of extra-mural education.

I see wall as implying a function - so I'd include monolithic structures, and also the sort of blown plastic moulded walls caravans used to be fitted with.

I was getting scared that somebody might get angry with me for posting that.
I was bricking it.

You're just trying to 'cement' your reputation.

I think your take on what is seen in the picture is about as accurate as anyone can conclude 'Mythopoeika.'

Cave walls and cell walls are walls.

How do you feel about vaginal walls?

Walls needn't be man-made.

Oh don't spoil my fun with facts!
Okay..... but I did say "don't think I could call" so I'm perfectly happy to be definitionally challenged (I think I might have invented a word there)

No, I think your OK there 'Trevp666.'

I lost some interest in supposed evidence for alien life, whether fossilised or extant, on Mars, after the same official explanation was given every time.
Namely that, due to Mars' lower gravity and minimal weather conditions, erosion on the Red Planet will produce some seemingly strange shapes that would be too fragile to survive on Earth.
Still, it would have been nice if the Curiosity Rover had shuffled over for a closer look at these two objects with protuberances resembling arthropod legs and the various stick-like objects protruding from and casting shadows on the sand (one looks just like the long ladle I used when brewing beer!). It's hard to imagine the kind of specialised erosion that could carve out structures like these.
Finally, a shame that no Mars lander has been anywhere near the evocative tree-like objects, as photographed by the orbiter and which the late Arthur C Clarke suspected were genuine plant life.

Oh wow! The Crab-People of Mars are real! I knew it!

Seriously, those are interesting photos, BMCS. I hope they are genuine. Even if they are, sceptics will always say stuff like 'erosion blah blah blah' and they could be right. Certainly agree that any rover device ought to go a take a closer look at those things. That spoon-y thing looks just freaky!

Well...that's a very curious geological accretion / weather erosion effect...if that's what it's conventionally believed to be. Unless (of course) it's just a weather balloon.

Hmm....maybe it did but we have never seen the pics.

Which is what the conspiracists have been saying for decades.
Mind you, with the recently-landed Chinese rover heading towards the so-called mud volcano, which is supposedly a prime location for detecting signs of life, I cannot imagine NASA wanting the CCP to win that prize (if indeed one exists). So, if NASA has any solid evidence for non-human artificial objects on Mars, now would be a propitious time to release them.
