Early Female Socialist Campaigner's Cheshire Grave

My concern be solely that she was not at rest, but abroad by night on vaporous sojourns, rather than rolled round on earths diurnal course, so to speak. I meant no disrespect to Cheshire and environs.

She's not believed to haunt anywhere. Her grave is in a peaceful rural churchyard, like the one in Gray's famous Elegy.

Gray felt that people buried in such a place may have led unfulfilled lives and had talents that went unappreciated in life -

Full many a flow'r is born to blush unseen,
And waste its sweetness on the desert air.

This can't be said of Helen Mc Farlane. She lived rather a colourful life before settling down in Cheshire, having seen upheavals and terrible personal loss, along with being the first to translate the Communist Manifesto into English.

Sadly she died relatively young of bronchitis, which would be easily treated now, and left two small sons. I wonder if they have descendants? They might live locally.

Today I bicycled over to Baddiley to lay flowers on Helen Mc Farlane's grave, on behalf of us lot.

I'd ordered three red roses with a red ribbon, sturdily wrapped to withstand the 10-odd mile mainly rural ride.
The item I collected was a rather stunning bouquet which I hope you'll all appreciate.

The holly tree overhanging the grave hasn't been trimmed for a while by the look of it and is obscuring the view.
Next time I'll take my clippers!

We had a prominent socialist die in this village Scargy, back in the early 1980’s

Although Savitri Devi Mukherji wasn’t a socialist in the conventional sense, quite the opposite In fact, as Savitri was a national socialist. Yes even after the death of Hitler and the cult of Nazism, she lectured worldwide putting forward her beliefs on what she called “Aryan paganism”

She was also a founding member of the world union of national socialists. Wikipedia doesn’t state what she was doing in this small Essex village, but she died here in 1982.

Right up until the very end she held the Nazi faith. Her ashes were then transported to the headquarters of the American Nazi party in Arlington Virginia, where they were placed next to Rockwell in the Nazi hall of honour.

Strange beliefs some people have eh.

Wonder what she made of the Jewish family run village chip shop :D

Well, this is disconcerting! Mr. Rockwell, the American Nazi, had the headquarters (per Wikipedia) at 928 North Randolph Street, Arlington, Virginia. I suspect this was his home, as it looks like a multistory condomium. I walked past that many times taking walks on my breaks from work nearby before I retired. What a PIA for the neighbors.
