YouTube Offerings About Charles Fort

Came across this - maybe of interest?

Charles Fort Commerative Blue Plaque Unveiling, 28/03/2015

@https://youtu.be/Q2aufpOG-6E

Not seen that before so thanks.

Scott Wood is the next speaker at EdFort, also in attendance were Paul Sieveking, and briefly at the start you saw book reviews editor David Barret and Ettienne Gilfillan was taking photos as well. I was in Edinburgh due to a mix up with dates and Bob Richard was oversees.

One sporadically runs a YouTube search for any new, related material and this has just come up.

Worthy of mentioning?

What actually happened there was the link initially didn't work.

When I checked why, it was because the link, simply cut and pasted as per usual, was:

@httpsps://youtu.be/wRHl8ecLrcY

...as opposed to...

@https://youtu.be/wRHl8ecLrcY

... which means I must have added an extra 'ps' at the beginning.

I didn't though.

Categorically impossible as, 'accidental', being a direct cut and paste.

One whimsically pondered for a brief moment if Charles had sent a, 'sign'.

Of course, if he did, it wouldn't be two meaningless characters, such as, 'ps', as in, 'P.S.', meaning there's something additional...

... hang on...no, it's just coincidental.

That genuinely, actually, did just freakin' well happen though.

I have naturally tried to replicate it and I can't.

It's not as if I could accidentally hit 'p' and 's' together, as they are at directly opposite sides of the keyboard.

I would also, inexplicably have placed then directly and in the correct sequence, after, 'ps' at beginning of the URL.

It's something which has never happened before and thankfully nothing to do with a thread about Charles Fort.

Or the fact I was reading some of his fabulous short stories earlier and silently exclaimed, 'Charles, if you were only still with us'.

I'm not making that up either.

Oh what's the point, nobody will believe me and I can't prove it anyway.

Couple of minutes ago I was about to delete and heard a voice in my head...

'Don't you dare, these are the Forteana forums'.

So, there you go then and reluctantly.

The "https" denotes an ostensibly secure version of a HTTP connection / interaction over the 'Net.

The extremely rare "httpsps" prefix denotes an HTTPS session established over a psychic - as opposed to digital - link. :reyes:

But seriously ...
If you Google "httpsps" you'll get a few thousand hits on links posted that came out this way. This suggests it has something to do with a keyboard 'skip' or similar glitch. I saw multiple examples of YouTube links thus modified among the Google results.

Firstly, I made the decision not to use emojis, or exclamation marks in this thread - just seemed unnecessary.

Did Shakespeare or Robert Burns need them to express emotions.

Did Charles Fort!

Realised there that my post came across as sooooo serious, like 'Mr Depressed has something gloomy to say'....

Consider the difference:

I'm not making that up either!

(End)

I'm quite shocked by this, actually!

Secondly, your explanation is an absolute stunner!

Additionally....

:bdown:

Thank you.
Nae bother. :)

I was going to ask if you might please explain the background to why you became interested in Fort's work and it suddenly occured I have idea why anyone else did either.

I can't locate an existing thread for same.

Just wondered if there might be?

Although it's not from YouTube, siimply out of curiosity, I ran a speculative Google search for, 'Charles Fort rare photograph' and this came up:

I have never seen same until now and naturally have no idea what that bizarre apparent 'post-it' note at the top right-hand corner is about!

This is the source I came across and an image search doesn't identify the photograph online anywhere else.

Over to you guys for an explanation?

It's a digital image created for a presentation pitching a movie concept. The Post-It Note alludes to "Vermeer."
These are Pitches and concept art that were pitched to Hollywood production companies and studios, or domestic projects or even just things I've collaged that are not part of any film project. All art below created by Anthony Lucas 2005 - 2012, ably helped by Julia Lucas and sometimes co-written pitch ideas and script development with Mark Shirrefs. ...
Regarding the specific photo ...
Concept art for a pitch to Brad Pitt's company, Plan B, on the script, Chasing Vermeer about two kids who sleuth out an art thief. Based on a great New York times best seller YA novel written by Blue Balliet. The company and Walden Media never made the film. My concept art details the clues the kids put together and the mysterious Charles Fort simulacra they encounter who acts as an intuitive sleuth guide. I imagined Anthony Hopkins as the enigmatic Charles Fort.

See... thing is, I had sussed that all along....

Honestly though, it was just so weird and could never have figured that explanation out by myself!

Thank you. :)

Apparently the concept for "Chasing Vermeer" used a Cheshire-Cat-like simulacrum of Fort that would appear in some meaningful way.
So... after recovering from nearly expiring laughing there....

Just for fun, I Googled, 'Charles Fort Cheshire cat' and somehow this came up:

Charles Fort Lived Here - Shady Old Lady

Of any interest?

IMHO Hopkins would have been a poor casting choice to play an ephemeral Fort. The late Wilford Brimley would have been perfect, given his many portrayals of knowing, sardonic, and sometimes crabby older gents.

Although not YouTube, lastly, briefly and rather than break up present discussions and find another thread...

As always, not sure if well known, however, new to myself and perhaps others - phenomenally insightful in relation to an overall perspective:

Charles Fort and Astounding Science Fiction

and the video of the unveiling that you posted as well

...that video was about an unveiling in America.
I also remembered you had replied and lamenting something about having missed your flight.

I see you actually wrote:

"I was in Edinburgh due to a mix up with dates and Bob Richard was oversees".

Turned 63 now and is alarmingly true! :omr:

Crossed my mind for a moment... it was dismissed though, because that video was about an unveiling in America.

Do we perchance have a false memory thread.
Both the video and the web link are the same location, 39a Marchmont Street, London. About 100 yards away from where I lived for three years.
