Man Self-Injects Semen For Therapeutic Effect

Man injects himself with... himself. :wtf:

I saw that story ... I'm very curious as to where he got the idea that self-injection of semen could help his back pain, but none of the accounts I found offered any explanation.

Possibly he was thinking of stem cells...?

Yeah - that was my #1 hypothesis. It occurred to me that self-injection of semen for therapeutic benefit wouldn't be the strangest medical concept anyone ever obtained from a blog or newsletter or whatever, and therefore it was possible there's someone out there touting such a thing.

Here's the Live Science article:

Man Gave Himself Semen Injections to 'Treat' Back Pain. Unsurprisingly, It Didn't Work

This article finally addresses the issue of where he may have received the idea ...

The case report authors noted that there were no other reports in the medical literature of people injecting semen intravenously. What's more, the doctors couldn't find mention of semen injections on nonscientific sites either. "A search of more-eclectic internet sites and forums found no documentation of semen injection for back pain treatment or other uses," the authors wrote. Rather, the patient "devised this 'cure'" completely on his own.

Still, the case is educational, even for those who do not plan on injecting themselves with semen (and please, do not plan on doing this): The case highlights the dangers of intravenous injections when carried out by untrained individuals, as well as the risks surrounding the attempted injections of substances not intended for intravenous use, the authors wrote.

The case was published in the January issue of the Irish Medical Journal.

Here's the medical journal item published about the incident ...

Sounds like he fucked his back pretty strangely.

I suspect that 'to cure my back pain' was simply the only excuse he could come up with when presenting at the hospital. I actually think there might be something of a sex kink or mental illness going on here.

Rather along the lines of 'I was hoovering in the nude and I fell'.

Could have been worst.

Someone elses sperm.
