I don't know if they are showing it yet in the UK or elsewhere, but there is currently running in the
US a miniseries on the whole event from when it started to...........

It is excellent and very well acted and done as a dramatic reenactment of the event.

Chernobyl {rated 9.6 out of 10}

"In April 1986, an explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics becomes one of the world's worst man-made catastrophes. "

Watched episode 2 here in the UK last night.
Gripping stuff!

The stoicism and courage of those struggling to minimise the disaster and the callous bureaucracy of the ghastly Soviet era are very well depicted.

It is rather brilliant and horrific. A friend of mine was there, he was in the Russian army at the time.

Damn! You only get that channel if you're with Sky, Virgin is my cable provider.

Maybe it'll end up on Ch4 in a while.

You can watch it on NowTV - subscription price is fair, although I always find that their streams are of variable quality despite a high speed Internet connection (video sometimes briefly drops to low res for reasons unknown, audio can sound 'tinny').

Remarkably powerful and moving 4th episode.
An expert depiction of the heroism of the workers toiling in horrific conditions and of the brutally totalitarian Soviet regime.
It's so grim that it's difficult to describe this as entertainment, but it's certainly very compelling and memorable television.

9.6 on IMDB and well deserved. My friend I mentioned a few posts ago was one of the 90 second guys...

Incredibly moving final episode of Chernobyl.

That series deserves to win every TV award going.

I have just been watching the first episodes of HBO's latest mini series LINK to Trailer. This is the best gut punch of a show I have seen in a while. It is often far scarier than a horror movie and more poignant than I expected. I haven't been a fan of many of HBO's releases of late, but this one is back on the money and I hearily recommend it. The fact that Putin and his cronies hate it and have done everything they can to undermine its success simply adds to its cache for me.
