Spam (Canned Meat Product)

I travel to Singapore each year and it's popular there too as are other 'luncheon meats' as they're termed. People eat it with eggs as a bacon/ham substitute or often add a slice or two to a bowl of noodles as the protein component.
It's obviously popular here in Australia too as the couple of supermarkets that we frequent have substantial amounts of the stuff in a variety of flavours too. Tabasco Spam anyone?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

This looks really great especially if that's sauerkraut in the center (I don't think it is). I know people who would like this as a substitute birthday cake. Particularly impressed by the nod to green veggies in the garnish. I think you would split and broil, but it's gonna need a lot of toothpicks or something stronger. Maybe fishing line.

Adding the information that I'm a vegetarian with the occasional longing for cold cuts, and this photo for me is food porn. I looked up the book which is alas no recipes, just photos

You know, that idea of spam wrapped around stuffing sounds really nice.

Im too snobby to eat spam though.

Ye Olde Oaks hot dogs are £1 a can in Morrisons at the moment!

(Compared to Spam at £2...)

Too snobby? It's just meat!
Treat it as emergency food. A few cans stashed away will keep for a long while.

Can't think of any food I am too snobby to eat. Either I like it and eat it or I don't.

Just bought in some more corned beef. Three tins of Spam in reserve.

Noticed a display of spam in Coles yesterday with people clustered around. I suppose it will be the next thing people are hoarding.

It would make sense. I've surprised that long life (UHT) and powered milk is still available. The shelves are full of the stuff.

I am really disappointed that it's vanilla flavour.
If it might cheer you up, there's a variety of SPAM themed toys, including this cute little piggy. It's so sweet and will hopefully taste the same when older and ready for... well, you know...

It's not, by a considerable margin... the most bizarre of many available selections.

I wonder if my little granddaughter would like this...

Are you piggin' serious!! What the actual...

There's nothing piggish about that. It's a bear with a different snout stitched on.

Can you buy any actual tinned spam from the website?
'tis a connoisseur's selection, good sir... :dinner:

There is a selection of varities aimed at their U. S. market, however they do not ship to the UK.

Although apparently available via Amazon and eBay, etc. excepting our standard supermarket choices all others seem to be out of stock.

Plus the shipping costs are expensive!

What are the items that aren't Spam and Olive oil?

I'm guessing salt for top left.

One is herb seasoning, one (I think) is beef powder and the smaller bottle is sesame oil (the larger ones are both canola oil).

The one that you think is salt might well be, but I can't see the word for salt--the part visible says Deep Water Ocean.

Edit: wife says that the brown powder is 'magic powder', some kind of MSG mixture--although that purports to be high quality stuff.
