You raise a good point Old_Shoe (and I love how wonderfully that sentence flows! :D)
How many things may have been lost to time, I wonder, for the sake of not having the right words to describe something?
Someone else is trying to find out more too, on Reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/UnresolvedMyste ... asks_case/
I knew there'd be a thread on it it here, so I shall now nip over there and post a link to this so the threads are slowly pulled together :-) There's no new info as far as I know, but...
Thanks for all the replies, everybody :)
I'll pass along what you've said and see what her thoughts are.
EnolaGaia's point is valid - I'm not sure what the level of lucidity is, only my friend can really answer that.
I may point her to this thread so she can take part in the discussion...
Unwanted lucid dreaming
I'm not sure where this belongs out of Notes & Queries, The Human Condition and Chat, so mods, I shall defer to you!
Does anyone know anything about *unwanted* lucid dreams?
For those that don't know, a lucid dream is one where you're aware that you are dreaming, and...
I lived in Knotty Ash for a time - giving out my address to people unfamiliar that it's a real place was always interesting.
For those that aren't aware, it's frequently mentioned in Ken Dodd's stand-up acts and often mistaken for a entirely mythical place.
I had more sarcastic or...
Funny you should mention that, I think they have a website:

Hi Matt,
I'm afraid I can't help you out; I just saw your post sitting there alone and forlorn and didn't want you to think people were ignoring you :-) Maybe there's just not a lot of board members around Bristol?
This thread's just reminded me about something that happened about 15 years ago.
My dad and I were sitting in our living room, when a glass mug which was sitting empty nearby suddenly exploded.
The mug was at least 10 years old, part of a set the rest of which never performed the same trick...
I don't remember it personally but it sounds like the sort of thing The KLF might have done. I've done a very brief search on Google for it but I can't find any references.
I have to admit it's an interesting condition to live with. It's incredibly disruptive, to the point where I've had to give up work and all the niceties that come with that such as money, and I have no social life to speak of any more, but on the other side of the coin I get to see the world...
I can relate to this as I have a condition which is pretty rare.
I have something called Non 24 hour sleep wake disorder.

It's wonderful, how some of those images make it to publication staggers me!
Slightly (well, very!) off-topic, but if you like that, you might also like "Life! Death! Top-Tips!" http://lifedeathtoptips.tumblr.com/
This one is some of the less than rational "handy hints" people write into...
I hope my jokey tone didn't imply that I didn't believe you - I was just thinking out loud as it were. I am really fascinated to read about what you saw because I think it's the first time I've read of someone actually seeing something appear as it happened. The only other vaguely related one I...
Handy too!
*Boing!* - "Ooh I wonder if that's my keys back from The Other Place?" :D
Thinking about it though, and assuming things really do sometimes appear/disappear (and I believe they do - I think I've posted my own definite experience on the board some years ago, although it didn't...
Hi Crookshank :)
Sorry to be nit-picky but just wanted to clarify - do you mean you actually saw it appear; that is, you were looking in the right-direction at the right time rather than you looked away, looked back and it was there when it hadn't been a moment earlier?
If so, what was it...
Thank you for posting Sarahbeany :) You sound like a good and dedicated parent :)
I think it's good that you're keeping a balance for Jay by making sure he still spends time with his friends.
I wanted to say also that in case you were worried regarding the people I mentioned in my earlier...
I find it interesting you mention that - every I.T. job I've worked in has had at least one member of staff who everyone else assumed had Aspergers, or elements of it.
Whether they really did have it I don't know, but each of them certainly did have issues with social situations and some were...
Yep, definitely. I hate the way the people who do that kind of thing don't seem to know or care that by releasing these hoaxed/parodied/teasing videos they're muddying the waters significantly. Don't they want to find out what the sound is themselves?
Ah but the thing is, if the vampire's heart doesn't beat, then the blood won't circulate, so how does that affect infections? I suppose an infection could still spread, but a lot more slowly? Movement would still jiggle the blood about, I imagine.
While searching about for more info on the vids I came across a thread on another site discussing the sound.

A video dated 19th October 2011 taken in Colorado in the US sounds quite similar:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ...
The description reminded me vaguely of a programme (made in New Zealand I believe) which I loved when I was a kid, called "Children of The Dog Star", but that was in colour.
Sorry, I know that's not much help :(
Can you remember what the horns on the boxes were for? Did they emit a sound or...
My guess is that it's something up with the imaging chip - my guess is that as the moon moves out of the way, certain pixels are not discharging as quickly as they should so appear bright for too long. They then fade out once the bright moonlight has stopped hitting them. I think it's plausible.
Indeed - I suppose it could tie in to various Fortean phenomena. Several I can think of off the top of my head are:
a) The people who disappear (we have a thread for them somewhere) - perhaps these have slipped out of our version of reality and into another almost identical one, not even...
I wonder if there's a possibility of it being uranium glass (also known as Vaseline glass)?
As the trees were about 85, that'd match up roughly with the end of production for uranium glass and also the start of the "Radium Girls" lawsuit, when the general public were starting to become aware...
I didn't realise we had a thread for this in Earth Mysteries - I recently posted in the Conspiracy board with a Royal Society lecture about it, given by Prof. Jocelyn Bell Burnell

Could it have been the result of a very realistic dream?
Very occasionally I'll dream of something and I'll awaken completely convinced that the events have happened. It's definitely the exception rather than the norm, but it does occur. The dream-memory can seem real to me for anywhere from...
I suppose it's not out of the realms of possibility - there was the polonium poisoning of Alexander Litvinenko, although that was much more rapid.
Purely speculating, but maybe somebody's slipped a radioactive source into the President's office, perhaps embedded in the lining of an often-used...
I remember watching When The Wind Blows when I was young, thinking it would be like The Snowman as the animation was very similar (I think it was the same person who drew it?)
I got quite a shock as I had no idea it was about nuclear war, which I was already terrified of, and had to stop...
I've been looking at the webcasts of Royal Society Lectures at http://royalsociety.org/royalsociety.tv/ and came across this one about the various ways that the world is supposed to end in December 2012, and why they're unlikely.
It's presented by Professor Jocelyn Bell Burnell, who you may...
Could it have been Carl Sagan?
In this video clip he discusses "flatland", a 2-dimensional world and how they could interpret a 3-dimensional object: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnURElCzGc0
Hi MattD,
Shadow people are a popular topic on a podcast and blog I'm subscribed to.

The link there is just from a rough search of the podcast archives for "shadow people" so there may be some that it's missed, if they're referred to by...
I hope the address you gave them actually exists - the thought of some unsuspecting person opening their post and finding a genuine job application for the intelligence services has put a right smile on my face! They'll probably think they've been hand-picked in secret or something :D
He did yes. My impliciation was that perhaps the set was actually a colour set which was faulty or incorrectly tuned. I didn't spell out the implication in my post though, for which I apologise.
I don't think I can explain Violets' post, but I might be able to provide an explanation for Jeff's: on colour TV sets with analogue tuners (that is, receiving analogue signals, even if the act of tuning is done digitally), you could get a black-and-white picture by off-setting the tuning from...
