    Most Haunted: Poo Or Boo?

One of the things that exasperates me about Degsy is that he seems to have gone through his whole life not knowing what anything is ... if he is thinking of a well, it's always "I'm seeing some kind of ... hole? A round hole? With bricks lining it ... and water down it, yes, water, a round...

    Most Haunted: Poo Or Boo?

I quite enjoyed the early series as knock-about entertainment, but I think the coming of the "Live" shows was the point when it started taking itself too seriously. Amateurs screeching at every creaky floorboard is a bit of a giggle, and there were the odd genuinely-creepy moments; but by series...

What Were YOUR Erroneous Childhood Beliefs?

My dad used to tell me horror tales of people dropping dead from the unlikeliest things, to scare me out of doing them. Typical was "there was a boy recently who drank his orange squash as quickly as you just did, and he died on the spot" ... I can't do anything these days. I used to think...

Can anyone recommend a ghost DVD ... ?

I'm pretty sure all three shows were repeated in the early '80s (the ghost one certainly was), which suggests they survived the Great Magnet. There other two included one about UFOs; the third one I forget - it might have been about the Loch Ness Monster, but I'm happy to be corrected!

    Paul Is Dead (Sixties Hoax)

There's a dissonant interval or something which was known as The Devil In Music and ISTR was banned by the church in the middle ages. And the whole is-there-coded-music-in-Rosslyn-Chapel thing that was just in Fortean Times. Elgar's Enigma variations have a main theme which is ... er ... an...

Answering my own question, in part, while posing another .... what are people's opinions of the William Woollard "Ghost Hunter" series (the UK one which was shown a lot on Discovery channel, not the American Most Haunted-alike)? One in serious need of restoration (or un-restoration, as it was the restoration a couple of years ago by English Heritage that caused the problems) is Westbury. Next to Uffington this has always been the next-best-known in my (admittedly, valueless) experience. Although it's only 18th...

    When's Peg O'Nell's Night?

The nice man at Bowland Brewery says he doesn't know if there's a specific 'Peg's Night' either and although his 'Headless Peg' beer is essentially a winter ale, he sometimes makes it at other times of the year too. So I think we just have to hope that whenever Peg's night is, it isn't the night...

    Lyme Regis ghost photo

    When's Peg O'Nell's Night?

Peg O'Nell is said to be the ghost of a servant girl who haunts the river Ribble near Clitheroe, Lancashire. She's associated with Waddow Hall. I've been reading on a cult TV forum (Roobarb's, URL below) that some of the more extreme Dr Who fans out there are considering approaching a psychic to see if s/he could provide any clues as to the whereabout of missing episodes of the series. I mention this and pass along without comment...

    Antiques Ghost Show

I've seen a couple of these, and the main thing that struck me was how cheap it all looked. Fascinated by all I've read on this subject - thanks to you all for pointers - but how careful do you have to be about posing unambiguous "wishes"?
