★ ~ The David Bowie Thread ~ ★

Was about to highlight on the, 'What Music' thread, a fabulous, live version of 'America', by Simon and Garfunkel in Central Park, 1982...

...and then this comes out of nowhere, courtesy of a YouTube suggestion...

So, do we post them both...?

Not really much of a dilemma, is it.

Sure as never been aware of this until now and... Wow Bowie...!

Stevie Riks! - This guy also does a brilliant impression of Marc Bolan - and this one of Bowie and Bolan:

Bowie did some cracking cover versions. I'm a huge Jacques Brel fan, but I believe Bowie's My Death and Amsterdam improved on the original. Also loved his versions of See Emily Play and Here Comes the Night on Pinups.
'See Emily Play', is quintessential.

1967, my growing up hippy era in Maryhill, Glasgow and something of an epithemy.

So, there's a Bowie cover....

Never aware of this and can envisage his take on it.

Mmmm... actually not so sure about that!

Shall we...

Adelaide oval Skinny, and the Angels wore white satin. (P.S., you can't beat vinyl for original sound, eh Skinny.)
Look what I found @Mungoman.

I hope this hasn't already been posted. Some (possible) David Bowie Forteana:

The keyboardist and longtime Bowie collaborator's claim features in an updated version of the Garson biography 'Bowie's Piano Man'
David Bowie was told when he was going to die by a psychic in the late 1970s, according to his former collaborator Mike Garson.

[...]

The updated version of the book, Bowie’s Piano Man: The Life Of Mike Garson, includes one anecdote – which Garson previously referenced in a January 2016 tribute – which claims that Bowie was convinced that he would only live to 69 or 70 after a meeting with a psychic the late 1970s.

Speaking about the anecdote, Garson told Billboard: “[The psychic] told him he was going to die exactly when he died.

“There are a lot of psychics who are out of their minds and full of it, but this one was real. David knew it and didn’t doubt it for a second. He told me about [the reading] with certainty, accepted it and planned his future out based on that. He had 30, 40 years to plan out his life.”

The problem there is some of these things can be self fulfilling if you believe them. If I ever get a terminal cancer by all means tell me I have cancer but don’t tell me it’s terminal. My mind set of having a terminal disease might push me off this mortal coil earlier than I need to go...

Perry Farrell makes a hash of it.

"Perry Farrell said he regretted the “tragic relationship” he had with David Bowie, which included incidents where he accidentally handed out his hero’s phone number and email address.

The Jane’s Addiction singer added that he’d hoped to make amends but didn’t manage to reconnect with Bowie before his death – though he remained convinced they would meet again.

“I kept screwing up as a young man,” Farrell revealed to NME in a recent interview. “I would do stupid things, like one time I left my cellphone in a cab. The cab driver got a hold of it and started texting him, ‘Yo, David, what’s up?’ in my name. Then [Bowie] would be like, ‘Perry, what are you doing?’ This guy was constantly texting him and trying to get hold of him.”......

Perry Farrell did make a lot of mistakes in his youth. Taking lots of drugs, Porno for Pyros...

Never seen this until a moment ago and thought it was magical - absolutely spellbinding... Wow... So haunting.

If you haven't seen it before either, hoped you might enjoy,
