Along A170 between Sutton Bank to Pickering there is or used to be it could have been
moved a large Bomb sat on it's base at the side of the road, anyone know anything about
it and it's exact location? last time I saw it was probably 10 years ago seem to remember
it was in a small village on the verge next to the A170.

No but I have now found it though it seems there are 2 and they are shells from
the 15 inch guns of the Queen Elizabeth class Ships from about 1915,
I did wounder if the article you posted was linked but it seems not.
By all accounts they weighed 1938 lb and traveled at just over twice the
speed of sound and up to 20 miles though land based versions could
exceed 25 miles.

It's at Middleton, just outside Pickering. Still there..

I live a handful of miles from it and used to drive past every day on my way to work!

Thanks for that there is another just up the road in the next village that I did not know
about though no one seems to know how or why they got there,
Below is a link to another such thing a Grand Slam 22,000lb bomb that was at one
time a gate guardian at Scampton it was used as a climbing frame by kids and a
photo backdrop for grown ups till they came to move it for the road to be widend
have a look at this link.
