Stumbled onto this site while researching Tyrone House in Galway. Lists accounts and histories connected to abandoned buildings in Ireland. The writer irritatingly chooses to "withhold" some stories because "some things are better left unsaid", but there are some fascinating summaries of properties in every county. eg on the following link he posts a
Warning:

This hideous tale is not suitable for those who are easily shocked, or for those who are of a nervous disposition.

"Ireland's most haunted" property here: http://www.abandonedireland.com/Most_Haunted_House.html
Page 2 of this link shows images from within the house that made my scalp crawl. Strange physical response, but there it is. Page 3 contains interactive rotatable imagery ala google street view.

Skinny, both those links are taking me to the same start page for some reason.

Edit. Found Most Haunted House under Dublin in menu.

Do these abandoned places draw the usual stoner children nightly in Ireland as they do elsewhere? I want to walk through them at night to experience the vibe, but if I'm gonna have to slog off teeny harpies with my shilelagh I'd rather not.

I'm going to Dublin a couple of weeks, might pay this place a visit....

Marsh's Library

Unchanged for three centuries, this perfectly preserved library of the early Enlightenment, with its original oak bookcases, houses more than 25,000 rare and fascinating books.

The library is open to the public and children are particularly welcome. Scholars may consult our holdings by arrangement.

Ooh nice one thanks - I've been over a few times (MrsCarlos is from Artane) but Trinity College is somewhere I still haven't visited.

Marsh's Library looks like my kind of place too.

EDIT Just spotted 'Maurice The Mummy' - Maurice is my brother-in-law's name, I wonder if he knows.

The last time I visited Ireland (which I love to bits) I had quite an hard time finding a fish and chip shop. I was in Dublin and all we could seem to find there where soup shops ( was soup a new trend?). We eventually found a cafe that did a lovely cod, chips and garden peas.

Burdocks: great fish n chips. Christchurch branch is the original one. Close to Christchurch Cathedral, St Patricks Cathedral, The National Archives, Dublin Castle, Chester Beatty Library. Although the Temple Bar branch is closer to the last two.

Thanks for that. The next time Im over on your side of the pond I`ll know where to go.

I've been to a few places on that website. The only one that made my skin crawl was Loftus Hall. I blame it on all the windows being boarded. It can feel like the walls are closing in on you.

Edited to add... It appears Loftus Hall is undergoing restoration, and is now billing itself as "The Most Haunted House In Ireland". Tours available: http://loftushall.ie/

And it's been sold.

One of Ireland's spookiest homes, a vast mansion with 97 windows that is said to have once hosted the devil, has been sold.

Loftus Hall in Fethard-on-Sea, Co Wexford, sits on 63 acres with direct access to the beach, has 22 bedrooms, and has played host to a number of film crews attracted by its spooky setting and legendary ghost stories.

Having been on the market for a year, Loftus Hall has now been sold to an unnamed buyer. The devil remains in the detail as to what the buyer plans - or what they paid - for the house that occupies a prominent position near Hook Lighthouse.

Owner Aidan Quigley, who bought the house in 2011 for €625,000 when it was it was almost derelict, said he enjoyed his decade as custodian, working to restore the property. An estimated €1.5m was spent on the restoration.

I've known of Leamaneh Castle in Clare for years as part of our family heritage. Always used to 'drive' past on google maps while researching for the inevitable visit to the ancestral lands. Now somebody has posted a drone video showing detailed above and within views. Audio is crap but I loved the vision and the hugely embellished tale of Mary Rua. She must have been a hell of a character.
Enjoy.
