Er....sorry to hassle the Mods, any chance my posts and reg date could be recovered??

I was roachford, but have re-registered as Iamroachford
You are on the list but will have to wait for the next batch to be done.

My big problem has been that the e-mail sent to authorise my details has been sent to an old e-mail address. Is there anyway they mods can get into liveinabin and change this?
PM me and I'll sort it out. I don't think I can access your liveinabin account as it appears to have been merged with liveinabin1.

When I was TygerLily it kept telling me it had sent a new password to my Yahoo account. I've never had a Yahoo account so someone (if this account actually exists) has got my new password as my old ID!

Could the Mods ensure that my old account is closed, mergered or amend their bits to adjust it to my proper email addy please?
Its a bit complicated but:

1. No password is sent.

2. The reason you don't recognise the email address is that its not yours - its whoever has the TygerLily account so they are being sent the activation link for their own account. Nothing for you tow orry about but it should confuse them ;)

Your old account is your new account - TygerLily is someone else's account somewhere in the Dennis system - if that makes sense.

I think I have finally jumped through all the requisite hoops that mean I might actually be allowed to post. It's only taken since last Wednesday to sort it out. Way to punish your long-term users, FT.

Anyways, before Dennis shot themselves in the foot I used to be Breakfast and it would be pretty handy if I could be associated with that account again, if that's possible...

I've forgotten now. I think we decided to try to mesh this name with Lizard_23 after the renaming thing went a bit Pete Tong.

This might sound like a daft question but are you logging in right?

lopaka3 and Wakarusa haven't yet been merged so you there is the possibility you aren't logging in right or your cookies are messing things up. I'd try clearing them out and trying again.

Hmm, not sure about "right", but I've cleared both cache & cookies and here I is. OTOH, I'm no computer wizard and there's been some slightly weird stuff going on with my computer since I accepted the new 'security overlay' that the MB put in. (And I don't just mean WRT to FTMB, but my having to log-in to get into my actual e-mail account. :( )

Until they're merged I'll just log-in under whichever name has the magic dust sprinkled on it at the moment.

ohhhh how odd!
Maybe I should change my name to liveinahell!

Is there any way I can change my name back to plain old liveinabin?

No easy way no.

It appears there is already a liveinabin in Dennis' system so (unless it is you) it'll be impossible.

No, I'm sorry, there can only be one liveinabin, who else would dream up a name like that, unless we've been merged with a parallel universe.

I do wonder whether the system tried to integrate with our existing profiles somehow (or as part of the changeover an attempt was made to do this) and that is why everyone's usernames appear to be taken. I mean it seems unlikely that the world could be full of web site users using names like liveinabin, lizard_23 or even breakfast. Surely a world in which that could happen would be a world gone mad?

I suspect the problem is that I was told people couldn't sign up with username's already in the FTMB unless they were being meshed with an old account.

The problem may come when the meshing failed and so it thinks you are a new user not an old one trying to get your old account back.

Thats just a guess though - it doesn't hold true for everyone (I'd imagine that the name breakfast wouldn't be that out there) but there isn't an awful lot that can be done about.

Emps directed me here..I asked if he knew how I could retrieve my password for GreenJeanz, because I really hate the bloody 1 at the end of this and want my old account back(And wanted to convert the old account into this new thing as people were supposed to do), I just did this one with the 1 in it in order to get in contact with someone to fix the issue. *sobs* But it seems that isn't possible(Which drives me nuts. Damn OCD. Oh god how I hate the 1!), so kindly please mesh them together. :(
If there is ANY way, ever, in the present or future, to remove the 1, I will love you techies forever.
And I feel very sorry for Emps and the other mods now who must put up with all of us.

Yeeeaaahhh, I'm gonna have to go ahead and ask for my old account back...

I don't know what account meshing is, or why it happens, so I don't know if it's possible, but there's no harm in asking -

Can I be Desperado again? Even though some dude on Pipex.com has it? And if not, how about making me Mr. Bingo again? That account doesn't seem to exist, even though it still has a profile.

Also, I wouldn't mind winning the lottery. Please fix it for me, Jim.

Account meshing -

You want to post about Fortean stuff, like falls of frogs, tacos looking like Jesus? You sign into the Dennis empire - not the Fortean site only. Thus, as well as getting information on Fortean stuff, you also get soft porn websites, inaccurate sports results and offshore drug-growing equipment.

Me? Cynical?

Yep! Guilty as charged!

I notice that when I am browsing the forum it thinks of me as liveinabin~ (on whose here list at the bottom) When I go to post it asks me for the pasword for liveinabin1 and both names show as being here!
The problem with that is that when I come back to the forum it thinks of me as liveinabin~ and shows anything that was posted after I logged in as liveinabin1 i.e. to reply to a post, as new! Does that make sense?

OK, now I'm getting confused.

I originally re-registered with this username, Anome_, which didn't work properly.

Then, I went back through the process to transfer my forum ID to the larger system, which I did as _Anome which seemed to work fine.

Now, Anome_'s been meshed, so all my old posts show up as being by that account and my PMs are in there, but _Anome has all my personal details set properly, and that has been the account I've been using, since it seemed to have meshed OK.

I posted on the Iran thread yesterday, but although there have been two replies since, I recieved no email notifs. On checking the thread, I found I was shown to be not 'watching this topic'. I haven't logged off and on in the meantime, in fact I haven't even switched the computer off.

This is not the first time I've noticed this happen. If this is happening to others too, as I suspect it is, this could partly explain the drop in postings - unless people carefully check for new posts at regular intervals, they can miss the reappearance of threads they are really interested in but which have been dormant for a while.

Please can I go back to being Epona. Now I'm Eponastill.

They made us go to a 'managing change' day here at work. Nobody liked it. The management change everything and then tell us it's our fault if we can't deal with it. And now the FT site changes too. Is nothing sacred?!

(Oh I see. Perhaps you can't do that. Never mind. I've still got my mushroom).

I see my av is back now - it went missing earlier this morning, along with those of some other posters. Somebody tinkering under the bonnet again?
