I was excited as my copy of Santa Sangre turned up today (nice Anchor Bay release):

Santa Sangre (1989)

www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000AMB ... enantmc-20

IMDB:

--
El Topo (1970)

IMDB:

www.imdb.com/title/tt0067866/

It has been awfully difficult to get hold of - however a japanese and Italian version are available:

--
It comes as a set with The Holy Mountain (1973)

Fando & Lis (1968) can be got through the US branch of Amazon:

www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00005Y7WW/wwwrevenantmc-20

IMDB:
www.imdb.com/title/tt0061643/

-----
Two upcoming films:

Abelcain (2005)
www.imdb.com/title/tt0187679/

Tryptych (2006)
www.imdb.com/title/tt0412006/

The legal situation was down to the Beatles producer, Allan Klein, buying the rights to the film but only allowing limited showings and charging an awful lot for the privelege.

According to this discussion this has all been resolved and the films are due to be released by Criterion pos. as early as next Spring:

Just a quick note: Mark Pilkington's interview with Alejandro Jodorowsky has been updated to include the full text that didn't make it in the mag for space reasons. Link

David Lynch's Absurda production company has attached Asia Argento and Udo Kier to star with Nick Nolte in Alejandro Jodorowsky's metaphysical gangster movie "King Shot."

Marilyn Manson is touted to appear as a prophet in the "Sin City"-style film, which producer Eric Bassett said has enough sex and violence to guarantee an NC-17 rating.

Having just sat through the two hours of Santa Sangre*, I did feel like cutting my own arms off, if only to prevent some alternative recreation. :err:

Yes, yes, I know it relates to that old Lon Chaney film etc. etc. but it is still a grotesque waste of time.

*I see I did the same in 1994. But it's no use putting Do Not Resuscitate on a rented video!

Yes, but now you can watch abominable things for real on Youtube in two minute bits - and they don't have a story either!

But I miss the big screen too. :)

I thought Santa Sangre was amazing.

And Holy Mountain...just, wow. Ticks all my boxes.

I sometimes joke that Santa Sangre is the story of my life in a slightly different universe... but yeah, it must be difficult for it to compete now with 20 cabbage patch kids in a toilet bowl being blown up by an M80.

Link for that, please?

Santa Sangre is out in selected UK cinemas to tie in with the new Blu-ray/DVD so you might be able to catch it in an art cinema if you're so inclined. I find a little of Jodorowsky goes a long way, but all credit to him, he makes the movies he wants to make. He has a biopic out next year, his first film in about two decades.

The special edition DVD release of Santa Sangre has a weird and fascinating documentary that starts out as a feature about AJ and ends up being about the filmmaker too. I really enjoyed this, though I haven't watched it in about 10 years..... Interesting if you like weird films, tarot, family history, and just about anything strange.

Wrong. it's a trashy, yet surreal masterpiece and my guess is Tarantino wishes he had the bollocks to do a film like this.

Mœbius & Jodorowsky’s Sci-Fi Masterpiece, The Incal, Brought to Life in a Tantalizing Animation

Telling a metaphysical, satirical, space-operatic story in the form of comic books originally published throughout the 1980s (with sequel and prequel series to come over the following 25 years), The Incal on the page became the fullest realization of Jodorowsky and Mœbius’ combined vision.

Trailer at link.

I have to watch that!
I have the book, which is now worth a load of money.
