Sadly, that looks like yet another premature baby that has mummified and now looks like an alien. Some poor mother wrapped it up and stored it away somewhere and now it looks like that.

404 on the first Russian link. An interesting paragraph at the end of the second link is attributed to the expedition leader, Vadim Chernobrov, concerning a 'meteorite' said to have fallen that same year [1996] in the region:

Quick and dirty translation:
"We received a message via the Academy of Sciences which had been written by a resident of Kyshtym," Chernobrov told our reporter yesterday. "From the context of the letter it can be inferred that the meteorite was silver in colour, and took the form of an elongated cigar. In addition, the letter writer had observed several holes burnt into trees. We were able to use these to establish the angle and speed of descent. There can be no doubt that this was something quite different from a meteorite. The trunks of huge trees had been burnt through by a powerful laser, on a perfect horizontal. Meteorites, and I have seen plenty, don't leave traces like that. "

The ufologists aim to establish whether these holes in the trees have any connection to the tale of Aleshionka.

Which casts the reports of the old woman trying to feed it milk into an unbearably sad light :(

FIRST LINK OK http://www.kr74.ru/articles/10/5477/1.html

My fault. I use brackets in the URL
Ah, yes, thank you, I can open it now. It pretty much duplicates the second link in terms of the information it gives. The third link, on t'other hand, offers quite a bit more, not least the suggestion that there were four or five of these humanoids seen in the locality in the two weeks leading up to Aleshenka's appearance in Kyshtym. There is also a photograph of a sample entry and exit hole in a tree trunk, with a razor blade for scale. I must admit I have a large pinch of salt on hand. The thing that rings truest to me is Chernobrov's consternation at the group's increasing confusion as they speak to more alleged witnesses, each of whom muddies the waters further.

That third link mentions that the ufology group is planning a trip to Latin America, where a similar figure was discovered in 2003. I'm pretty sure we have a thread on that, which reached the same conclusion, but can't find it just now.

I follow this case for years and never thought in a human baby. It has an exoskeleton - if a it is real alien. If not, it is a toy. But the being was examined and consideado an organic. Links Pravda / Inglês with the whole story are in the Post. And it's all very strange, including the death of the benefactor woman of the creature, Tamara.

Soon scientists will can unravel the mystery of Uralian Alienigena (Alien the Urals), a tiny creature found near the town of Kyshtym in the Urals.

Five studies were performed using small sample of DNA. The latest study conducted by the Forensic Medicine Institute in Moscow produced sensational results.

A gene discovered in the DNA sample did not match of any human, anthropoid or ape, said Vadim Chernobrov, coordinator of the public center Kosmopoisk research.

No samples available at the laboratory match with known genes. DNA experts have prolonged the exam with the DNA molecule, added Chernobrov.

The curse of Alioshenka

The dwarf from Kyshtym did not do any harm to anybody while he was in the land of the living. Some really weird things began to happen following the death of the creature. The old lady, a “godmother” of Alioshenka the Alien, died in a hit-and-run accident. The woman was knocked down by a car just a few days before a team of researchers arrived in the town from Moscow.

It's worth noting that some bright spark in Russia was quick to claim the pravda.ru domain before the state-run media outlet could. It's certainly true that the current incarnation is way more sensationalistic than its Soviet predecessor, but I fear it is equally as untrustworthy...

This is the thread I was thinking of, a discussion of the Sirius "documentary" making claims about the Atacama humanoid. It's an open question whether you consider Chile to be Latin America, but it's close enough for clandestine government work ;). In any case, I'm pretty sure this is the humanoid Chernobrov and co. have in mind. That wiki article links in turn to an article on Aleshenka, and I think it would not entirely misrepresent the page to say it presents a quite different opinion.

So as to close the loop on the similar Chilean discovery ... The Atacama mummy was recently determined to be the mummified remains of a severely deformed child ...

No, It's Not an Alien — Here's What That Tiny, Pointy-Headed Skeleton Really Is
A tiny, pointy-headed skeleton that fits in the palm of a hand isn't an alien, despite conspiracy theories that have circulated for years.

The skeleton, with a dramatically elongated skull and an underdeveloped jaw and face, was uncovered in Chile's Atacama Desert in 2003, and mystified scientists when it was first found.

Research published in 2013 offered some clues about the skeleton's bizarre appearance, but five additional years of genetic analysis have provided even more answers. Examination of the skeleton's entire genome revealed that it was Chilean and female, and that its misshapen skull and other deformities might be linked to a host of genetic mutations that affect bone development. Together, those mutations shaped an array of abnormalities that gave the remains an alien-like form. ....

'Alien' Kyshtym Dwarf was 'actually human foetus deformed by a Soviet nuclear disaster'

THE notorious "Kyshtym Dwarf" – rumoured for years to be an "alien" – is likely a human foetus deformed by a shocking 1957 Soviet nuclear disaster, says a new report.

A woman who “took possession” of the remains has admitted for the first time that she ordered detailed forensic tests on the “mummified creature” – found in a Russian village in 1996 – and these established the truth.

She had hoped the tests would show the existence of an alien, but they did not, she said in new testimony on the weird episode.

Russia’s largest newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda reported this week it has completed three years of research into the “dwarf”.

Its corpse was eventually lost in the 1990s.
