Almonds recalled from store, for containing peanuts

NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) – The grocery store Trader Joe’s has issued a food recall affecting those with allergies to peanuts.

In a press release statement, the company said they have been informed about the possibility of Trader Joe’s Cinnamon Almonds containing “undeclared” peanuts. Officials said people who are allergic or sensitive to peanuts could have an allergic reaction if they eat the almonds.

The store-brand Cinnamon Almonds have been removed from shelves and sale has been suspended.

Anyone who purchased Trader Joe’s Cinnamon Almonds, and has a sensitivity to peanuts, is being instructed to throw the product out or return it to the store for a full refund.

I've been told that peanuts aren't nuts at all, they are a kind of pea. And thus not dangerous to people who are allergic to nuts. Which is why people with a peanut allergy would be eating almonds thinking they are safe.

Don't know if its true.

Is it almonds that have a sexually transmittable allergy? In that if you are allergic to almonds and have unprotected sex with someone who has eaten almonds, you could have a reaction.

Might be thinking of walnuts though,

Peanut allergy can be so strong that snogging someone who has eaten them can cause a reaction.

We had a speaker at a conference once who is so allergic to peanuts that she will feel ill just being in the room with them.
