Ancient Hominin In North America?

Evidence for pre Homo sapiens in North America?
130,000 year old fossil find suggests pre-humans reached the Americas.

Like the article and its implications.
Would query however any statement referring to "pre-humans" when Homo Sapiens Neanderthalensis clearly were humans too.
The fact that modern Europeans have 2-4% of their DNA traceable from Neanderthals is ample proof of that.

The native North American tribes will go amok over this find if they find out the fossil's DNA is not related to their DNA.

There is no human / hominid fossil evidence against which to compare anything ...

This claim is based solely on damaged mastodon bones and worn stones / cobbles which the authors have gone to great lengths to frame as evidence of tool use. Demonstrating the bone / stone evidence is consistent with tool use still falls short of demonstrating the evidence is proof of tool use by humans / hominids. The authors thankfully understand and acknowledge this.

There is evidence of humanlike activity in the A mericas dating back 45,000 years. Whether or not native Americans like it or not they are not first. This fact does not change the fact that the Indian was here and in pocession when Columbus and other Johnny-come latelys arrived.
