So a while back I ran into this:

Which discusses the possibility that Earth went through a period of plasma phenomena that resulted in the documentation, worldwide, of the shapes that would be formed and visible to early man-- the rock petroglyphs that people made in many places.
I'm curious if there's ever been any serious consideration of this idea. There's a lot of neat points in that paper, but like engineers and hairdressers applying their trade/practical knowledge to archaeological evidence, there doesn't always seem to be a close meeting of ideas there on an academic level. Is this guy raising an interesting, but undiscussed, theory, or is he just a crank?
