I think I've been to Baldhu Church at least twice...
The first time I went there it was very atmospheric... very still and quiet and almost engulfed by mist. Mum and I had a walk around the churchyard and looked at the well, and I didn't get any bad feelings about the place at all - it just gave the impression of being beautiful and mysterious..
I mentioned this to some friends at college and it was only then that I heard about the rumours of rituals etc. It is worth mentioning though that these seemed to have happened to 'friends of friends' rather that first hand..
Some friends who had actually been there at night had been very scared, and described the place as being horrible and creepy - so much so that I had to make sure we were talking about the same place !!!
The second time we went back I expected to be a bit scared, but found I wasn't ... We looked in the woods behind the church and found a clearing with log seats in a circle around an old fire, plus empty beer cans & bottles - everything to suggest that some local teenagers had probably had a gathering and sleepover to see if the rumours were true !
I'm not sure but I think the well in the churchyard may be one of those ancient Holy Wells (my Mum is rather keen on these so that's probably why we first went there).... So it could be that the area has been a place to worship since pre-christian times ?
