big stick insects?..common in UK?

Well I'm not a naturall history buff and I'm /still/ finding this exciting!

where does that leave me? halfway up a wall changing colour and losing legs as far as I can see :)

thought I'd seen one this morning but it really was just a twig. Not a very good likeness at all really...:-(

Nope shes still looking out for any... and said she'd keep em in a box for me if she found one.
 
Aren't people nice? even when a request might seem a bit odd?


I can just see it going astray in years to come the mystery of the old woman who collected dead stickinsects for 50 years, caarefully wrapping each in cotton wool.....
