Police: Florida woman hides mother’s body in freezer

A Florida woman was charged with failing to report her mother's death more than two months after the woman's body was found in a freezer in the home they shared.

The woman, 64, was arrested Thursday and also charged with tampering with evidence. Her 93-year-old mother's body was found after a welfare check was conducted in late April, according to the Sebastian Police Department's Facebook page. The daughter told investigators she bought the deep freezer and put her mother's body in it so she could keep receiving her disability payments.

The department said an investigation showed the woman died of natural causes and that she was dead for two weeks before her body was put in the freezer. ...

Judge sets stiff bail bond.

A Chicago woman is accused of keeping her mother’s body in a freezer for nearly two years while living in a nearby apartment.

Eva Bratcher, 69, appeared in court on Thursday after being charged with hiding her 96-year-old mother’s death and having a fake identification card.

Regina Michalski’s body was found this week in a garage freezer near the apartment they had shared, police said. Investigators believe she died in March 2021. The cause will not be determined until the body has thawed.

The allegations are “very disturbing”, judge David Kelly said while setting a 20,000 dollar (£16,409) bond for Bratcher. Mr Kelly turned down a defence lawyer’s request for a lower bond to get Bratcher out of jail.

Investigators said they are trying to determine if Bratcher was collecting her late mother’s benefits, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

Would have been better if police had caught him.

A Minnesota man found dead in a chest freezer of an empty home had been on the run from authorities and had used the vessel as a means to hide, police have revealed.

Brandon Lee Buschman, 34, was discovered in the freezer in the basement of the unoccupied home on June 26, according to the Gilbert Minnesota Police Department.

Buschman, from Babbit, had an active warrant out for his arrest and it is believed that he became stuck in the freezer after climbing into it. Witnesses confirmed with authorities that they last saw the man fleeing from the upstairs part of the home because of possible police presence in the area.

You'd think he'd notice this prominent feature of his hiding place -

'Police shared that the chest freezer was an older model, unable to be opened from the inside'

Must have been a very old freezer, pre-1956.

Missing German real estate tycoon’s dismembered body found stuffed in freezer

The dismembered corpse of German real estate tycoon Hans Peter Mack, 62, was discovered stuffed in black bin liners at around 11pm on Monday in Pattaya, Thailand

Mack lived in Pattaya with his Thai wife and worked as a real estate broker, according to local media reports. He had been a resident of Thailand for several years.

Tawee said police determined that a large amount of money was missing from Mack's bank account, which they suspect is linked to the slaying. The police chief refused to elaborate but said investigators were looking into several suspects, both German nationals and Thai.

Buschman took a metal rod into the freezer to poke through and pop the catch. He must've been sure this would work even though he couldn't test it from the outside. Gambled and lost.

Update:

“Damion Johnson was sentenced to two years in prison after previously admitting to preventing the lawful and decent burial of the body of John Wainwright, as well as three counts of fraud.

Derby Crown Court heard on Tuesday that Mr Wainwright, 71, died in September 2018 and was not found until August 2020 in the freezer on the premises of a skip company.

In December 2019 the defendant was arrested for unrelated matters, and while police did not search the property, they barred Johnson from returning, and the flat was boarded up on December 6 with the freezer unplugged inside.

Several people later attended the flat to conduct safety checks and noted a strong smell, described as “horrendous” and “unbearable”.

On August 21 2020, a removal team took the freezer away, and while noting the smell, mistook this for rotting food before Mr Wainwright’s body was found by staff at Budget Skips Services Ltd in Exhall, Warwickshire.

A post-mortem examination, conducted on August 26 2020, noted signs of blunt force trauma, but Mr Whitehead said: “It was not possible to confirm or exclude natural disease as a cause or contributor to death.”
