Body parts sent to wrong address

Body parts from China intended for a US laboratory have been mistakenly sent to a Michigan home by a delivery firm.
The recipient, in Cascade near Grand Rapids, said her husband opened two packages - one containing a liver, the other a partial human head.

"He started the second one, but stopped as soon as we saw the ear," she told the Grand Rapids Press newspaper.

The delivery company, DHL, said it was not immediately clear what happened but the labels were reportedly in Chinese.

The company says it is co-operating with investigators.

The authorities believe 28 more bubble-wrapped human organs could have been dispersed across the country.

The body parts - which are preserved - were for medical research, police spokesman Roger Parent said.

"There will definitely be a shock to people if they see these things, but there is no hazard to health," he added.

Edit to amend title.

"Hey honey, you've got a super-surprise parcel. Go on, open it. You'll never guess what it is!"
It's kind of funny to read about, but really, these things just shouldn't happen

Apparently the postage cost an arm and a leg...

...and when she opened it, she said, 'What's this'ere?'

i think i'd have a nervous breakdown on the spot if i got a head in the post... a partial one sounds even worse

DHL are trying to get to the bottom of it.

I knew someone would manage a backside joke eventually

You butt out of this.

I guess it proves that DHL will always de-liver.

Los Angeles County officials are investigating what appeared to be a pair of lungs found on a sidewalk in unincorporated South Los Angeles.

A citizen called to report what she thought were the organs about 8:30 p.m. Sunday in the 13100 block of Avalon Boulevard, said Sgt. Robert Dean of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies responded and called the coroner's office to the scene. Additional testing will be done to determine if the remains are in fact lungs and whether they are human, Dean said.

"We don't know what they are," Dean said. "It's really weird."

" Stay away from him, he'll rip your lungs out, Jim!"

A severed human leg discovered on a Texas interstate highway was determined to have been part of a truck driver killed in an accident circa 50 miles away. The leg is believed to have somehow become lodged on, and carried away, by some vehicle passing the accident scene.
Human leg found in Cibolo came from Boerne fatality accident, officials confirm

A leg found by a motorist on Interstate 10 in Cibolo was related to a fatality accident in Boerne, officials confirmed.

On March 22, a passerby spotted what appeared to be a human leg in the eastbound lanes of the 10700 block of I-10.

Cibolo police shut down the interstate and secured the area while they investigated.

Detectives called around to other agencies and discovered there had been a fatality crash in Boerne earlier that day ...

“The leg was turned over to them to see if there was a connection” ...

The communications director for the City of Boerne said it was determined that the remains were related to the fatal accident involving a commercial truck driver.

The victim was identified as Jeremy McGee, 48, of Kerrville.

McGee had pulled over onto the right-hand shoulder of I-10 and gotten out of his truck when he was hit by a passing motorist in an SUV.

Boerne officials believe the body part became lodged onto a passing truck and dislodged about 50 miles away in Cibolo. ...

Weird - dog seen running down the street carrying a human head. Even Weirder - scattered body parts aren't all that uncommon in this violence-plagued Mexican city.
Dog caught running off with human head in Mexico

Residents of a town in north-central Mexico were stunned to see a dog running down the street with a human head in its mouth.

Officials in the violence-plagued state of Zacatecas confirmed the incident and said Thursday that police eventually managed to wrest the head away from the dog.

A law enforcement official who was not authorized to be quoted by name said the head and other body parts had been left in an automatic teller booth in the town of Monte Escobedo late Wednesday.

The human remains were left with a message referring to a drug cartel. But before police could act, a stray dog made off with the corpse’s head.

A video posted on social media showed the dog trotting down a darkened street, holding the head by the neck in its jaws, apparently intending to take it to a safe place to eat it.

Zacatecas has been the scene of a bloody, extended turf war between local gangs backed by the Sinaloa and Jalisco drug cartels. ...

The mystery of Nikolai Gogol's skull deserves a mention here.
It's spawned some highly Fortean accounts, including a possible premature live burial, the theft of the famous author's head as a "keepsake", a premonition of doom on the train carrying Gogol's skull back to Russia for repatriation, a mysterious white mist, the train apparently vanishing - and reappearing decades later and, of course, the obligatory curse.

So much weirdness surrounding the tale that separating fact from fiction is nigh on impossible. Try sifting through these three accounts!
