People Ignore Dying Man, Continue Shopping

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. -- Customers continued their business at a convenience store, stepping over a man dying on the floor with a gunshot wound to the head.

Pablo Lopez Jarquin, 23, was shot in the back of the head Tuesday at Rosy's Market & Taqueria, in what police believe was a gang-related slaying. He died later that night at a hospital.

Surveillance tape shows two men cornering Jarquin and a third shooting him with a handgun.

The tape also shows people stepping over Jarquin to get to the counter.

Santa Cruz Police Sgt. Steve Clark called it "pretty callous."

Yes it seems callous. But I know someone of stupidly sympathetic
nature who agreed to accompany someone home who was nervous
of muggers. He got mugged by the worried party. :(

Reminds me of the Kitty Genovese case. Urban living gets evermore dangerous.

People with gunshot wound to the head make me sick. Why doesn't the govenment get them off the streets?
