Charity Shop Heads Up

I've never been in an OXFAM Bookshop I didn't like - but the one on Byres Road in Glasgow consistently has interesting history, folklore, spirituality, "Scotland" and art books. And the usual good selection of other subjects of course. It's in the Glasgow University quarter and I think this helps with the stock.

It also has an Alasdair Gray* mural.

*Author and painter of, for example Lanark and Poor Things which has been made into an Emma Stone film (2023). Although they decided to move it away from Glasgow and into London. Here, from The Herald newspaper is a piece on the film including all the Glasgow bits that they missed out. :headbang:

I must add that I didnt look hard, but the books seemed more generic than specific.

And I didnt count but I suspect at least ten.

Certainly looks like someone is clearing out a collection...

If you are on the look-out for books and other media, you may be inclined to miss out those large British Heart Foundation shops, which were once Woolworth's stores etc. True, most of the space will be given over to horrible dog-faced cushions and wee-scented beds, from the BHF's unholy symbiosis with old-folks' homes. However . . .

Quite a lot of them - not all - keep a carousel or two of DVDs & CDs, occasionally boxes of LPs. Bookcases are often full of books which they are prepared to sell! I have had a few lucky finds and usually bargains! :)
