Cloned Rabbits...

There's an interesting thing cropped on the BBC here about cloned rabbits.

Surely if there's one animal that doesn't need cloning....

Also this thing about using their milk, suitably modified, for drugs: why don't they use cows? Much easier than trying to milk a rabbit.

Does the proximity of April 1st have anything to do with this?
 
Rabbits are genetically "closer" to humans than cows - even closer than rats and mice.

The benefit of cloning rabbits for medical research lies in eliminating genetic diversity from the possible experimental "noise".
