Competitive Eating & Drinking: A Sport For Debased Times?

There is a thing called mukbang, where people eat while being filmed, because the world is a mess.
One of them overdid it and died while on camera.

(My personal best was in my university days in 1981-1982. One of the UK's pizza chains, the long-lost and non-lamented Pizzaland https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pizzaland, had an all-the-pizzas-you-can-eat for a quid offer one day a week. So me and a few tight-fisted uni friends would go occasionally. Three and three-quarter regular-size pizzas in one sitting, though of course there was no speed element to it. The final quarter would have been taken home. No waste...)
