Cruelty To Animals

I can't even begin to say how much I despise hunting, and I'm a life long country girl who loves horses, dogs and riding.

They don't care about anyone's animals (not even their own, in many cases)

(Edited to add; it's not even a legitimate form of pest control; two hundred horses and hounds careering over the countryside after one fox, FFS. If you've got a problem with foxes after your livestock, sit up for a few nights with a shotgun like a normal person  )

And let's not forget it's illegal anyway. If caught they pretend they were drag hunting but are they feck.

Scumbag(s) at work.

The RSPCA is appealing for information following the deaths of two cats shot by air guns within days of each other.

In total three cats were shot in Pembrokeshire at the beginning of May, and only one survived. One, from Fishguard, suffered a broken leg after being shot on 5 May, which had to be amputated, and she was later put down.

The RSPCA said it received 454 calls last year about animals being shot, injured or killed with air guns.

Jemima, a two-year-old tabby, may never fully regain her mobility after she was targeted near her home in the Plas Y Fron area of Fishguard on 6 May. The pellet, which entered just below her neck, came to rest between her shoulder blades, millimetres from her spine, and has been deemed too risky to remove.

Cretinism defeated, details delivered by the aptly named Mr Kite.

It was a shocking wildlife crime when a platform holding an osprey nest was cut down, stopping the birds from breeding last year.

But now there is fresh hope as the ospreys have returned to Llyn Brenig in north Wales, and are incubating three eggs. The nest and platform have been rebuilt and new security measures are in place.

Visitor attraction manager Nick Kite called it "a long hard road to get us back to where we are now".

When someone cut down the nest's pole with a chainsaw in April 2021, the nest with one egg in it could be seen on CCTV falling into the water below.

Mr Kite said it was "devastating" and "gut wrenching" to everybody involved in the Brenig Osprey Project, which borders Conwy and Denbighshire. But now there is some good news.

"They've come back and are doing really well and they came back right on cue…they are currently looking after three eggs and with a hatch date of around the end of May, start of June, for the first one. We have 24 hours surveillance both by automatic sentinels and we've also got a team of people that are watching it 24 hours a day.

Tonka the chimp appeared in a few movies and TV shows, such as the Alan Cumming comedy Buddy, but for the past year was reported missing. There were rewards offered from PETA and Cumming, but now it turns out the animal had a stroke and its owner faked its death (!).

What is it about animal trainers that attracts the crazies (I include Cumming in that, he seems to be partly complicit).

Good grief..

Police probe after vehicle went into field and 'deliberately' killed 14 sheep and lambs

In a video accompanying the tweet, PC Haggett from the force's rural crime team says: “I'm in north Dorset and as you can see a number of sheep have been deliberately killed.

“A vehicle has trespassed into the field and deliberately ran over a number of sheep and lambs. Some of them have horrific injuries and unfortunately had to be shot due to having broken legs.

Plainly a troubled individual!

Some genius broke into the Vancouver Zoo & partly opened the wolf pen. Two escaped.
One's already dead & the other still missing.

Bet they thought releasing animals who've never left a cage was "giving them their freedom".

Back, safe & sound.

A wolf missing from a zoo near Vancouver has been found safe and returned to its pack.

One-year-old Tempest, a grey wolf, was found on Friday morning after a three-day search and rescue mission.
Police and zoo staff believe a pack of nine wolves was set free from the Greater Vancouver Zoo by a vandal earlier this week.
One wolf has since been found dead. The remaining wolves were recovered, with Tempest being the last to be located.
Zoo staff said they believe the grey wolves escaped after someone deliberately cut the fence surrounding their enclosure overnight.
Police are now investigating what is believed to be a case of unlawful entry and vandalism.

There were nine wolves and six pups housed at the zoo - located 34 miles outside Vancouver.
A three-year-old wolf named Chia - the second oldest female of the pack - was found dead on the side of the road nearby the zoo on Thursday morning.

A couple of brothers who live in my shire and their appalling behaviour:

‘Drunk’ brothers sentenced for decapitating a duck outside Mittagong RSL in NSW Southern Highlands

Two brothers who chased after, decapitated and threw a dead duck across a RSL car park during a wild and drunken Saturday have copped heavy fines over the shocking act of cruelty which horrified Australia.

Jonathan Christopher Kolster, 24, and Benjamin James Kolster, 27, narrowly escaped jail time when they were sentenced at Moss Vale Local Court this week.

Both men pleaded guilty to behaving in an offensive manner within a public place over the appalling incident outside Mittagong RSL in the NSW Southern Highlands on January 22.

The court heard Ben was filmed by the brothers’ associate chasing after a flock of ducks before grabbing a dead one by its neck in a sickening video posted on social media.

Ben handed the Australian wood duck over to his younger brother Jonathan, who ripped off its head with his bare hands.

The self-employed electrician was filmed throwing the duck’s body on the ground and appears to play with the animal’s head by opening and closing its bill while making quaking noises.

" He chased a sandhill crane near Military Trail on Monday, grabbed it by the neck and began to remove its feathers."

I wonder - was he torturing it or trying to steal it's feathers without attracting attention by choking it to muffle it's cries?

Feather poaching is big business now, for fly fishing lures. Some scuzzball even broke into the British Museum of Natural History & stole some extinct specimens for their plumage.

I remember from years ago a video news item of a man who had wolves in a warehouse, also in NYC. There was nothing in it - just a bare floor & piles of crap. 2 or 3 fully grown wolves as I recall. Can’t remember details as to who was the perpetrator or where he got the wolves. Hard to understand the mentality of the people who do these things.

Camel bites and tramples worker to death after he hit the animal in the face at Russian children's holiday camp

An angry camel has bitten and trampled a man to death at a children's holiday camp in Siberia, Russia.

The watchman, 51, punched the 'peaceful' camel in the face, provoking the animal.

A local report said 'the animal did not appreciate such treatment', and the camel retaliated by biting the man several times
