She must have really pissed this elephant off!

Elephant tramples woman to death, then attacks her corpse at funeral

A woman was trampled to death by an elephant, who later came to her funeral, grabbed hold of her corpse and threw it in the air.
A 70-year-old woman in India was trampled to death by an elephant — and her corpse was then bizarrely attacked by the same beast at her funeral, according to a report.
Police said Maya Murmu had been fetching water from a well in the eastern Indian state of Odisha on Thursday when an elephant came barrelling toward her, according to the Print India. The tusked pachyderm had apparently escaped from the Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary, which is located in a neighbouring state.

The elephant trampled the woman, who ultimately died of her injuries at a nearby hospital, police told the outlet Saturday.

Dog caught on camera activating stove, causing house fire

Security cameras inside a Missouri home recorded the moment a dog turned on the kitchen stove, starting a fire that severely damaged the house.

The Kansas City Fire Department and Southern Platte Fire Protection District responded to a house fire .. and they rescued two dogs, who were the only occupants of the structure at the time of the fire. ...

Firefighters reviewed security camera footage from inside the home and discovered one of the dogs had stood on its hind legs to investigate a pan on the stove and inadvertently turned on the heat.

Investigators said the pan still had food in it from a previous meal and the heat caused a grease fire about 8 minutes after the canine activated the stove.

The dogs were not injured, but the damage to the home was severe ...

You'd think a zookeeper would know better!

Zookeeper dies after tiger savages his arm in horrifying video after he stuck his hand through fence

A keeper in a private zoo has had his arm ripped off by a tiger after he put his hand through a fence to stroke the animal during feeding time.
A keeper in a private zoo was fatally mauled when he put his hand through a fence to stroke a tiger during feeding time.
Horrific footage of the attack shows the big cat sinking its claws into his hand and pulling his arm into its mouth. The Sun reports.

The keeper – named as Jose de Jesus – reportedly died in hospital after the attack in Periban, western Mexico.

The video shows the 23-year-old beckoning the Bengal tiger over to a chain-link fence.

But as he starts to stroke the beast’s neck, its mood flips and it suddenly savages his right hand.

As Jose screams in agony, the tiger pulls his hand towards its jaws and razor-sharp teeth.

I think zookeepers can forget the potential for this kind of thing when they have a good relationship with the animal. In that sense, the untrained have a healthier attitude toward dangerous animals. Unless they're stupid, of course.

Then again, I once touched a lion. What does that say about me?

Woman eaten by her cats

The cat breeder had been dead for two weeks at least before she was finally found, half eaten by her beloved giant Maine coon cats.

Police found her partially eaten body surrounded by the cats, in the Bataysk, Russia.

Her gruesome end was only discovered after an employee contacted the police after she was unable to get in touch with her.

Once in Thailand (as a teen) I climbed into a cage to have a polaroid taken of myself with a chained (and no doubt drugged) tiger. I'm mortified by the scenario now in so many ways.

My experience was under controlled conditions. The MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas used to have live lions in glass cages on the casino floor. They spent most of their lives on a ranch far out of town, but the owners wanted the cubs to become accustomed to seeing strangers in their occasional trips to the city. They came up with the idea of allowing people to pose for pictures with them. My wife and I took a picture touching a lioness about 4 months of age, by my estimation only a few days away from being too dangerous to meet strangers.

Lets get some dogfish to chase off the catfish.

A child in Florida was rushed to a hospital on Monday after being stabbed in the chest by a catfish, according to officials.

On the way to the hospital with the mother, the child experienced difficulty breathing, prompting the mom to pull over on “US-19 to call for help,” according to a Facebook post from Pasco County Fire Rescue. Firefighters responded to the call, listing the child as a trauma alert after evaluating that the catfish barb was “lodged approximately 1-1.5 inches in the child’s chest.”

The child was airlifted to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa.

Corey Dierdorff, a spokesperson for Pasco County Fire Rescue, told Tampa Bay Times it was unknown whether the catfish was venomous. “That’s another reason they transported in the way that they did,” he said.
