The director of Kong: Skull island has had an extraordinary thing happen to him - he was nearly beaten to death due to a woman talking to him at a club, and his search to find those responsible has helped lead to the arrest of some major baddies.

I don't know which if any of these links will work for everybody, but here's one for GQ:

After the blockbuster success of Kong: Skull Island, director Jordan Vogt-Roberts fled Hollywood to live the expat dream life in Vietnam. Then, one night at a Saigon club, he was brutally beaten by a mysterious mob of gangsters. Who were these monsters? Soon, he began directing something entirely different—an international hunt for the men who nearly killed him.

The GQ article is paraphrased at Deadline.

I'm glad the attack didn't stop him seeking justice, but it's a bit of a stretch to say he was directly responsible for that justice. Though at least he will now have a film out of it.
