Why would you want to catch your dream & what would you do with it if you did?

I think it's cruel to catch dreams. They should be left free to roam as they wish & nature intended.

I thought the idea was the bad dreams (nightmares) get caught in the web, the good dreams come through; so really it should be called a "Nightmare Catcher"

Or a "Nightmare Filter". But that name doesn't evoke such, uh, dreamy feelings as the word "Dreamcatcher".

I'm liking 'Nightmare Filter'. Could be a P.K.Dick story - someone invents a device which captures your nightmares & unpleasant dreams but where do they go? They build up in the device & things go awry.
