Suffolk police tried using a stinger, like what they see on them car chase telly shows, and wrecked some innocent motorists' tyres. Oops.

Luckily the only injury was to some rubber and the drivers' tempers. Could have been so much worse.

Suffolk Police apologise after several cars damaged by stinger

Police have apologised after cars were damaged with a stinger it was using to try to intercept a suspect vehicle.
Suffolk Police officers were using the device - a strip of spikes designed to puncture tyres - on the A14 near Newmarket at about 18:30 GMT on Thursday.
But vibrations caused by passing lorries moved the device into the path of other motorists.
No-one was injured and an investigation is being carried out, the force said.

Tuscon police officer shoots 61 year old shoplifter riding a mobility scooter 9 times in the back .. then puts handcuffs on him. In the officer's defence, the victim had threatened to stab him and he might not have needed to use a mobility scooter .. the officer's been fired.

Reminds me of the story I was told about a drunk on a train who fell asleep and woke up well past his stop. He demanded the train turn back for him, which wasn't happening, and then threatened to kick someone's 'ead in.
When the train did stop he was at a scheduled station he was arrested and taken off the train by the BTP, along with the crutches he used to help him get around, being an amputee an' all.

The person who told me this was the employee who'd been threatened with a kicking from a one-legged man. He didn't find it all funny and was in fact most aggrieved at having to take time off work when summoned as a witness in court.

One of the most violent fights l ever had was with a one-armed man. ln a dental surgery, FFS.

The two main problems:

a) How the fuck do you handcuff him?

b) How would you explain beating a “poor, disabled” man to a creamy consistency with a PR24 if you couldn’t work out a way around (a)?

This Omaha policeman retired to become the police chief in the small town of Wahoo (Nebraska). He abruptly resigned. It turns out he'd engaged in sex while in uniform with his body cam operating.
Wahoo police chief resigned after bodycam showed him having sex, sources say

Former Wahoo Police Chief Bruce Ferrell abruptly resigned in November after he was caught having sex with a Wahoo resident, two law enforcement officials say.

The way he was caught, according to the sources? His bodycam was recording. ...

Now Ferrell, who became Wahoo’s police chief after retiring from the Omaha Police Department, is under investigation by the Nebraska State Patrol, the sources said. ...

Ferrell abruptly resigned Nov. 11 without giving notice. In an interview less than a week later, he told the Lincoln Journal Star that it was “just time.” ...

The bodycam footage showed Ferrell, partially clothed in his Wahoo police uniform, having sex with the woman who had called police about an estranged boyfriend, the sources told The World-Herald.

The patrol investigation is looking into whether the woman consented to the sexual activity or felt that she had the choice of whether she could consent. One of the sources said the woman has suggested that the sex with Ferrell was consensual. ...

Alleged driver of record fentanyl haul in Colorado MIA after promising to cooperate with feds

The search is on for the man who police say was caught with more than 100 pounds of fentanyl on Interstate 70.

David Maldonado was arrested nearly three weeks ago, but he was released after agreeing to cooperate with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).

Court documents show that not only did Maldonado not cooperate with the DEA, but he also took off and is now a fugitive. ...

About 114 pounds of pure fentanyl powder – enough to kill 25 million people, according to the DEA – was seized from a car on I-70 near Georgetown on its way to South Bend, Indiana.

What the DEA failed to mention was that the driver of the car, the alleged courier of the drugs, is now on the run. According to court documents, 26-year-old Maldonado was released after agreeing to cooperate with the DEA after he was arrested. The plan was that he would "deliver the drugs in hopes of identifying additional members of the criminal organization."

But the court documents say Maldonado did not stick to the plan – that the very next day, "on the way to doing a controlled delivery of the fentanyl, he fled from the DEA, eluded DEA surveillance and removed the tracker from his vehicle."

The DEA declined to talk today about any aspect of the case. ...

Two Arizona police officers who went to massage parlors as part of an undercover operation - as well as the authorities involved in setting up the operation - are in trouble because the whole thing was technically illegal for multiple reasons. This whole affair was dumb from start to finish, top to bottom ...
Flagstaff PD officers fully naked, fondled during massage investigation

Two Flagstaff police officers went undercover to massage parlors, took their pants off, and allowed themselves to be fondled eight different times.

Experts tell ABC15 that state law clearly outlines that as illegal. The operation, though, was approved by federal agents, Coconino County prosecutors and Flagstaff’s command staff.

Federal agents called it “Operation High Country Hydra.”

In 2019, a tip was called in about Flagstaff massage parlors accepting money for sex acts. ...

Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and Flagstaff PD launched a joint months-long investigation to try and stop the suspected “human trafficking, sex trafficking and prostitution.”

When the investigation was complete, not a single trafficking victim had been identified.

Police arrested 13 people though, after two officers went undercover and got completely naked. ...

Officer Dustin Eberhardt remembers the 'confusion' from his first undercover massage.

“I was like, ‘Well, do you want me to take them off?’ And so she was like, ‘Well, your comfort – if you want them off or you don't want oil on them.’ There was kind of some confusion on that, so I ended up taking them off because that's what I felt like the suggestion was from her” ...

The Flagstaff officer went on to explain that he tried to minimize the amount of time the massage parlor employee was fondling his exposed genitals.

“As soon as I got aroused, that's when I immediately started asking about the money and how much. And like I said, I've never done one of these, so I was fairly nervous and I didn't know where to stop it. So I was trying to stop it quickly.”

Police reports reveal Officer Eberhardt allowed different women to touch him seven more times over the next 48 hours. ...

Roughly three months later, another Flagstaff police employee, Officer Hutchinson, went back into five of the same massage parlors and did the same thing. The reason for the second round of sexual contact was to see if the businesses would accept debit cards.

Both men documented every instance of sexual contact with a recording device, and in detailed reports.

Also, Officer Eberhardt’s initial ‘confusion’ about ‘where to stop’ may come as a surprise - since the operation had been in the works for months, and the ‘fondling’ was discussed and approved ahead of time by prosecutors, police department leaders and federal agents. ...

This Colorado woman was intercepted and detained following a road rage incident. While they were searching her car the cops stashed her in the police vehicle ... which they'd parked upon the railroad tracks ... and then the freight train came ...
Woman seriously hurt after Platteville police car she was placed in is hit by train

A 20-year-old road rage suspect was seriously injured when the parked police patrol vehicle she was detained in was struck by a freight train in northern Colorado. ...

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation says multiple law enforcement agencies responded to a report of a road rage incident involving a firearm in Fort Lupton on Friday evening. A Platteville police officer stopped the woman’s car just past a set of railroad tracks and parked the patrol vehicle on the crossing.

The Greeley woman was placed in the back of the police vehicle, which was hit by the train as officers were searching her car. The suspect name and details of her injuries have not been released.

The Fort Lupton Police Department is investigating the road rage report, while the Colorado State Patrol is investigating the crash. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is looking into the woman’s injury while she was in police custody. ...

That's such a rookie error, parking on the tracks. WTF!

Police parked police car on the middle of a railroad crossing with a suspect handcuffed inside. Guess what happened.

Stupidity and negligence. The woman they arrested didn't seem to have done anything wrong. :(

Surely, nobody would ever be so retarded as to park their car across railways tracks…….Oh! I stand corrected.

Rookie police officer brought a giant 8in snail with him to work... to calm his nerves

A new police recruit was granted permission to take an 8in snail to work in order to help calm his nerves - but it has since died.

The snail, nicknamed Sid by colleagues, was kept inside a ventilated cardboard box at Birmingham's Bournville police station.

Some of the recruit's fellow officers were reportedly not impressed and privately objected but no official complaint was made.

It is believed that West Midlands Police did not receive a complaint because officers were prepped with an unofficial 'wellness' policy that was put in place in an attempt to make sure recruits got through their training.

The rookie officer has since left the force alongside Sid, who has since died.

In the latest revelations coming out of the force, sources also revealed that a female officer was permitted to cover her head with a blanket at her desk as a coping mechanism for her anxiety.

Did you not have a 'wellness' policy in your time Max?

It sounds, more and more, like our modern police force is increasingly becoming a laughing stock, a shambles, a bunch of snowflakes etc etc.

I can't begin to detail the stupidity here. Even if there was reason to stop on the tracks, once in custody she was no danger to the officers, so why not just, y'know, move the car?

In too many communities here in the U.S. the police are understaffed, underfunded, and untrained to deal with many situations in which they may find themselves. In urban areas, they are often outgunned by the gangs. The difficulty of recruiting enough officers means the overall quality of personnel suffers.

There was a time in the U.S. when the beat cop was a familiar neighborhood figure; he was acquainted with people in the neighborhood, and they knew him. Nowadays, you may occasionally see a cruiser passing by, and you will NEVER have a casual interaction with an officer. Contrast that with Japan, for instance, where every neighborhood has a police kiosk which is manned 24/7 and foot patrol is routine.

The cops are stressed, feel threatened by a too-often hostile community, and may over-react when their authority is challenged. Then you have some police unions who protect unfit officers and obstruct efforts at meaningful reform.

It's a train wreck . . .

Video Shows Denver Cops Wound 6 Bystanders In Addition to the Bad Guy…Out of 6 Rounds Fired

Denver police officers faced an armed bad guy who drew down on them in the midst of a busy bar crowd at 1:35 a.m. The cops engaged, firing their sidearms, scoring seven hits out of six rounds fired. That represents a remarkable 117% hit rate. The only problem is that six of the seven people who were wounded soaked up rounds meant for the bad guy.

NOTE: Video may be distressing to some. NSFW:

"Two officers shot a combined five rounds while facing Waddy with the front wall of Larimer Beer Hall behind him. A third officer fired one round from Waddy’s right side and a crowd of people is visible behind Waddy in the officer’s body camera footage.

“The Department of Safety and Denver Police Department remain concerned about the health and well-being of those who were injured in this incident and will continue to offer support to aid in their healing,” the departments said."
