hmmm... i'm not an expert on these things but from what i've gleamed around the net a reading of 2 to 7 milligauss (avoiding "natural" fields) is about on the money.
It should be white noise centered around not too low or too high a frequency. 440 Hz is concert A, so imagine an orchestra tuning up, it's a half octave below that. Not too loud, so your mind can make sense of the static.
