Xi Jinping removes his predecessor Hu Jintao from the CCP summit on live TV in full view of everyone.
Communist purges in real time are really Fortean! (No politics intended.)

Hu looks ill in the video. It could be just that - he's nearly 80.

That also could be the case. But most commenters are surprised. But indeed, you might be right:

新闻联播’ was literally trying to signal that Hu was leaving not for political reasons and the absence was not worthy of hiding.
Hu was rumored to have Parkinson's disease as he lost control of the hands in front of cameras when he last showed up publicly.
- and frankly I cannot sense any thing unusual from that leaked footage as people’s responses are natural and quite understandable especially in Chinese conventions and contexts.
The press is seeking trouble so as to make China’s politics looks bad, that’s the whole thing.

And here is a long article:

I have not seen this being reported yet. So there may not be much truth behind the speculation:
After the break, Hu Jingtao returned to the congress and voted

Notice the music :)

Maybe we should move the Chinese thread to Conspiracy? Because the story goes on:
Done. This discussion moved to its own thread in Conspiracy.

The ABC Spanish-language reporter recorded the most complete process of Hu Jintao's abduction incident, which was caused by a document: Hu wanted to look through the folder in front of him, Li Zhanshu did not let him read it, and Xi Jinping saw this and called Kong Shaoxun, deputy director of the Central Office, who pointed to Hu. Xi called the people of the Central Guard Bureau again and gave the order, Hu was shocked when he heard it, and Li Zhanshu and Wang Huning also made a surprised gesture. There's a video of what happens later. What is the document?

The folder Hu Jintao wanted to look through was a list of candidates for membership of the Central Committee. Li Keqiang, Wen Jiabao, Wang Yang, and Hu Chunhua of Hu Jintao's faction all looked straight ahead with expressionless faces, as if they had known that such a thing would happen. Li Keqiang didn't turn his head when he heard the whole process, and only nodded when Hu walked over and patted him on the shoulder. How can this apathy be due to health reasons? Only Li Zhanshu fidgeted and wiped his sweat, or felt that he was causing trouble or being kind

They are above the law, and elections are only a means to achieve the will of the leadership.
Who is eligible to vote, voting procedures, and voting results are all decided by the leader, and if the result is not satisfactory, it can also be modified and adjusted in secret, and it is necessary to realize the leader's intention.
Their elections were sham elections at the behest of their leaders.
But there was an unexpected incident that day. I didn't expect Hu to question some content, to figure it out in public, and even to argue. 1/2
Everyone is not surprised by election fraud. No one expected Hu to question something, and speaking in public or arguing with Xi would have serious repercussions.
Kong Shaoxun, deputy director of the Central Office of the CPC Central Committee, commanded Xi's personal guard to help Hu leave.
But Hu seemed unwilling, wanted to take the information on the table, Xi pressed the information with his hand, the guard blocked Hu's hand, and forced Hu to leave.
The focus of the debate should be this information. Who knows what that information is? 2/2

Hu Jintao, founder of ‘harmonized society’ censorship, is now censored on multiple websites after being escorted from CCP congress. Karma has it.

In recent days, the incident with ex-president Hu Jintao has been investigated and the images carefully reviewed, images that were not shown on Chinese media. In the thread below I explain what I determine. The accompanying 4 photos are crucial. 1/

The man sitting to the right of Hu is Li Zhanshu, at that time still chairman of the Standing Committee of the Politburo. Hu wants to look at a document that has just been handed out, but Li seems to be holding it back. Presumably it concerns the new members of the highest party organ.2/

President Xi notices the incident, and then calls for reinforcements to physically remove his predecessor. This leads to a discussion with Hu Jintao, who is clearly upset that he has to leave. He refuses, but realizes that his resistance is futile. Eventually, he goes along.
Li Zhanshu is also upset, reaching for his handkerchief to wipe the sweat from his face. The attitude of the other attendees seems undisturbed. Premier Li Keqiang, who was pushed aside, continues to look ahead, ex-premier Wen Jiabao does not shrink. 3/

These are images of resistance, not of a state of health. Hu Jintao is indeed old and not good to walk. But not senile. Otherwise, he would never have been allowed to appear in that fiercely directed final session. Those who are too weak will no longer get there, cfr Deng Xiaoping. 4/

The fact that there is no reference to the incident in Chinese media and no images of it distributed is thought-provoking. The video was made by a foreign reporter. We will never fully know the true facts, I suspect, but we continue to puzzle #vrtnws 5/

Does anyone know what it says on the badges of those taking him away? They don't really look like hired muscle.

Here's more - but I still understand nothing:

The video before Hu Jintao was taken away came out, matching the photo taken by the ABC reporter, because he wanted to see the contents of the folder and Li Zhanshu did not let him see it.

There's a novel comment beneath this Youtube video:

Many speculations on what really happened, and one of the more interesting ones goes something like this: Hu thinks he's hosting the conference and was going to start reading his document. The guy next to him realized this and started talking to him and removing the document from him. The rest was all about trying to get an unwilling and muddled old man somewhere else. Before Hu left, he also talked to Xi, probably asking him to hold the conference on his behalf, and patted Li on his way out. The reason why I find this theory to be interesting is that it answers almost every question to this strange incident. Hu is obviously not in good health, yet he's the only person in that entire place who kind of "has to be there" as long as he's able to sit and stand.

Honestly, to me it looks like dementia - these things do creep up until the moment you realise that somebody is about to something that isn't within the usual scheme of things. The attention from Li Zhanshu does actually look caring to me, in a very difficult position. Just my interpretation, it could be much more sinister.... but then it could be as simple as this.

And:

Why is the the footage of Ex President Hu being helped to his seat not shown in your video? The sight of President Xi gently touching Ex President Hu's elbow to tell him to sit down would have make a significant difference to how viewers think of the incident.

= = = =

I'm probably overdoing and overthinking this. But I want to keep a log of the incoming information and my own thoughts about this.
I suspect that if we ever get a solution - it will be totally different from all the speculations above.

And this one sways me towards the "he was unwell" hypothesis:
https://huazong.substack.com/p/my-thoughts-on-the-hu-incident?r=2e&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web

In the full video it can be seen that both Xi and Li Zhanshu express concern for Hu. Xi is clearly a little more reserved, but still with a smile on his face. Of course he quickly put his attention back into his own world.

The CCP would never expose its top-level struggles and divisions to the public and the media. Publicly humiliating a former top leader does not do Xi any favours, nor does Xi need to do so, he has already won an outright victory.

Does anyone know what it says on the badges of those taking him away? They don't really look like hired muscle.
One says “chicken” the other says “fish”. The badges have flipped around to reveal the complementary lunch vouchers tucked in the back.
