It’s a couple who live there, I’d say they were in their 50s. Never spoken to the woman - she doesn’t seem to even want to say hello but I’ve had brief chats with the man. He seems quite affable & up for chat but I usually can’t stand too much - he’s a bit of a conspiratorist. A non vaxer, liked Corbyn but “all the rest are the same”, believes in contrails, US election was stolen, probably many others I’ve forgotten.

I can’t say I know them well. If I see the man I’ll see if I can find out more.

Sounds a bit ominous. He sounds a bit of a head case and the woman not speaking can be a sign of domestic abuse. She might just be very shy but maybe not. Tread carefully.

Wouldn't explain the fire engines though. Maybe someone smelled gas?

Any 911 call, here, unless person specifies, what is needed has fire, ambulance and police respond and that is to save time and have access to help by the service vehicle that is closest and available.

I personally couldn't be a first responder because you never know what you're coming upon. I consider paramedic, fire and police difficult jobs. Even more so than hospital emergency personnel because, if someone is brought to hospital via any one of these, they have some forewarning.

First responders (I think only in Ontario, I'm not sure) have created a mental health support for all first responders called "I've Got Your Back". It brings awareness to the mental and emotional trauma they experience just doing their jobs.

I'm wondering if this whole thing is a deliberate ploy to get fired and then make a sh**load of money at a tribunal.
 
I think we need to consider this: is the man in the photograph the actual Elvis looking younger and fitter, and somewhat different from when he died 13 years before, or is it someone else who has a passing facial resemblance, perhaps reinforced by his choice of hair style, to one of the most imitated men of the late 20th century?

Personally, and it's only me, I'm going with the actor being the singer, Jimmy "Orion" Ellis, who traded heavily on his resemblance to Elvis both in sound and appearance. However, Orion always wore a mask and never had a beard, so perhaps it's just a really bad Orion impersonator.

Or... long shot... Glenn Miller.

New Year’s Eve fireworks cancelled because of masturbating walrus​

A town was forced to cancel its New Year’s Eve fireworks after a giant walrus lobbed in its harbour — and put on a show of its own.
Thor the walrus put on an X-rated show of his own — after his arrival put an end to a town’s New Year’s Eve fireworks display.
As huge crowds gathered to see the Arctic mammal lounging at a harbour, council officials axed the light show so he was not disturbed.

But parents had to cover their children’s eyes when the two-ton beast appeared to perform a solo sex act on the slipway on Saturday.

Footage of Thor’s un-family friendly performance in Scarborough, North Yorks, went viral on social media.

One wag joked: “Walrus misunderstood ‘Are you coming to Scarborough fair’?”

Another posted: “David Attenborough missed that in Blue Planet.”

I was rather hoping for it to be a Kraken.....but the truth is slightly more mundane.

Viking Orion: Cruise passengers stranded after marine growth halts ship.
Hundreds of passengers have been stranded on a cruise ship off the Australian coast after a potentially harmful growth was found on its hull.
The Viking Orion was reportedly denied permission to dock in Adelaide after authorities discovered "biofoul" - an accumulation of microorganisms, plants, algae or small animals.
