The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has accused Russia of using inflatable tanks in the ongoing invasion of Ukraine. According to a Facebook post on Thursday, some of the "rubber" tanks have since deflated.

Putin’s Droop?

"But apparently, the free air of the Cossack region is not suitable for the occupiers' 'rubber' products, so they are blown away without fulfilling their main mission. Like the bloated bravado of the Rosarmy."

California cops shoot dead double amputee, 36, as he tries to run away from them on his stumps

A group of California police officers shot and killed a double amputee on Thursday as he tried to run away from them on his stumps after jumping out of his wheelchair.

The three cops from Huntington Park Police Department were filmed firing at least eight shots at Anthony Lowe Jr., a 36-year-old father-of-two.

His family say he lost the lower halves of his legs recently after an altercation with police in Texas.

Lowe Jr. had just stabbed someone unprovoked, according to the police department, and was trying to run away from two officers on Thursday.

First, they tried to Tase him, chasing him as he ran down the sidewalk, away from the wheelchair he had leaped from.

He turned and tried to hurry away from them, clutching a large butcher's knife in one hand.

A second police car arrived, from which a third cop emerged. Within 15 seconds of the third officer arriving, they fired multiple shots, shooting Lowe in the upper torso.

'The suspect was tased at least twice by Huntington Park Officers but the deployment of the taser was ineffective.

'The suspect attempted to throw the butcher knife at the officers again, at which time an officer involved shooting occurred,' the LA County Sheriff's Office release said.

Lowe Jr. later died at the scene.

The story isn't funny in the slightest, but the headline is hilarious.

Ironic?

Woman shares photo of newborn son clutching her IUD

A 20-year-old woman has claimed that her son was born despite an IUD, sharing a photo of him clutching her contraceptive device.
Violet Quick, from Utah, in the United States, welcomed her son Rudy with husband John Francis last week.

She posted a video to TikTok to announce her son’s arrival but, in the photo, he was seen clutching her IUD, one of the most effective forms of birth control with a 99.9 per cent success rate.

I'm glad that further down the article, a professional states that the photo is staged for those who believe that baby was born with the device in its hand. Not in the least possible.

And nothing new with women becoming pregnant despite having IUD implanted.

Sometimes I wonder why these are even covered as news.

Absolutely. The guy was clearly a thoroughly bad lot. However, if he had extremely limited mobility, and had thrown his knife, there must have been a better way than shooting him dead. My son's a police officer in the UK. He doesn't carry a gun, and has to use skills, teamwork, patience, and training to arrest people. It isn't easy, but he's proud of what he does, often managing to pacify drunks and druggies sufficiently to get them to surrender and cooperate. It's a sign of a civilised society that killing is not the first recourse.

I suppose you could term this as a miss-conception?

When I was at school in the 1970s, we had "sex education" lessons at about age 14.

One of the teachers, talking about the pros and cons of the different methods of contraception mentioned that "babies have been born clutching the coil [IUD] in their hand."

He also said that the coil is insecure and can fall out, and he went on to suggest that you sometimes see them on the floor in supermarkets where one has dropped out as a woman was doing her shopping.

He said this with all the appearance of seriousness and, as naive 14 year olds, we took him at face value. Considering how important the subject of contraception is, and how easily misled teenagers can be, this was pretty irresponsible of him.

He probably had not much more sex education than the kids he taught.

While this headline may sound like codswallop, if you can think of a betta pun, be sure to drop me a line.

Unbelievable Fish Phishing Scam Accomplished When Pet Fish Commits Credit Card Fraud Using Owner's Nintendo Switch

The title says it all folks, and you read it correctly, a man's pet fish committed credit card fraud by accessing his Nintendo store on his Nintendo Switch. The Japanese youtuber set up a controller to his Nintendo Switch that used movement tracking to allow the fish to control the game. This isn't his first rodeo either. In 2020, he did a similar experiment where he tasked his fish to complete Pokemon Sapphire - which it did manage to complete in 3,195 hours.

This time, however, things didn't go as planned. The fish managed to open the Nintendo store on the Switch and enter the numbers for his credit card into the online store. He only lost about 500 yen (less than $4), but his credit card information was broadcasted to thousands of viewers who were watching this whole shenanigan on a livestream. Nintendo refunded him the money, but he did have to cancel his card and get a new one.

It's only decent to express sympathy for Canada, but all the same I'm so relieved it wasn't Punxsutawney Phil who died.
Phil gets replaced probably every three years. But the groundhog club won't give details and promote the silliness that they give Phil an magic elixir to make him immortal.

And the majority of "regular" people would say we believe silly things.
