Indian restaurant refuses to serve man ‘because he is Indian’
Owner criticises ‘one-sided’ ruling and intends to appeal

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...s-customer-ravis-kitchen-dublin-a9072831.html

An Indian restaurant in Dublin has been ordered to pay €3,000 (£2,745) after officials ruled its owner refused a man service because he was Indian.
Mayank Bhatnagar won a discrimination case heard before the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC).
Mr Bhatnagar told the WRC he had entered Ravi’s Kitchen in July last year, with the intention of having lunch with two colleagues.
He claimed he asked the restaurant’s owner, who was handing out menus, how long the lunch would take because the group had a limited time, according to The Irish Times.
The customer alleged Ravi Shukla, the owner, then asked him if he was Indian.
He replied that he was.
Mr Bhatnagar claimed the proprietor said he did not serve Indians and asked him to leave.

Or it was some ridiculous 'caste' related thing

Many people (including me) often get the impression that shooting stuff at random is a very American trait. I assure the world that this is not solely an American pastime. It happens elsewhere, with enthusiasm.

Well, the people I've known who had Down's Syndrome have had very distinct, unmistakable and enthusiastically expressed likes. Difficult to imagine that Down Syndrome Drag Queens would not be very disappointed at this. I hope they get another venue, and have a great time. S/he who laughs (at) last, laughs best.

I Didn’t Want to Offend You: The Cost of Avoiding Sensitive Questions
Bottom line: you need not worry too much about asking sensitive questions.

But there are some intelligent and funny reactions:
  • You can't treat #4 seriously until they have a metric for dealing with outsize negative reactions, or social conditions under which reputation effects multiply. Risk-reward. This is the kind of study that's useless to understand the phenomenon under study.
  • But I was disappointed by their example. "What are your views on abortion?" really doesn't seem too personal. "Have you ever considered abortion, had an abortion, how would you advise your daughter about abortion etc" -- now that would be personal.
  • 4. Why don't I ask sensitive questions? I really don't want to know. Are you a morning person? tells me who to avoid before 10am. Useful information. The only time asking someone about abortion is useful is before shagging them.

Mystery humanoid cat-snatching creature ‘spotted’ running wild and attacking children in Texas.

A mystery creature is haunting the streets of Texas. Described by some terrified witnesses as a monkey, by others as a chimpanzee and as “anything’s possible” by police, a sense of apprehension is spreading.

The unidentified humanoid has been repeatedly spotted in the city of Santa Fe, with one witness claiming they saw the beast attempt to snatch a cat.
