-------------------------------

A landscaper was left with raised itchy skin lesions after being exposed to a fungus that grows in wood, leaves, and soil.

....

On examination, doctors realized that the man's affected area was covered with wart-like marks and decided to investigate further to identify what was causing them. Using a method known as Grocott-Gomori's Methenamine Silver Staining, doctors found "budding fungal organisms" according to a case report.

Kenya alarm after carrier bag mistaken for stray lion

The three armed Kenyan wildlife officers must have been on high alert as they cautiously approached a homestead following reports that a stray lion had been sighted in the area.
But that soon turned to astonishment when all they found was a shopping bag in a hedge - albeit one with a realistic image of a lion's head on it.

Ringing railway crossings keep Ermelo up all night
Due to a malfunction, the railway crossings remained closed for seven hours last night at three railway crossings in Ermelo. All the while, the level crossing bells were ringing and the warning lights were flashing. And it didn't stop there, because the trains that did run between Amersfoort and Zwolle did so very carefully and honked loudly, reports Omroep Gelderland.

The problems arose just before midnight, according to rail manager ProRail as a result of a malfunction in a rail coil. This is the electronic component between the rails that indicates whether a train is arriving. As a precaution, the railway trees are then closed. In such a case, the trains must pass through the transitions extra carefully - and honk each time.

Punishable
If the railway crossings are closed and the alarm signals are on, it is punishable to pass a railway crossing, It is unclear whether people tried that last night in Ermelo.

At 07:00 this morning, a mechanic had fixed the malfunction.

Google Docs Crashes On Seeing 'And. And. And. And. And.' (bleepingcomputer.com)42
A bug in Google Docs is causing it to crash when a series of words are typed into a document opened with the online word processor. Google Docs crashes at the sight of "And. And. And. And. And." when the "Show grammar suggestion" is turned on. A Google Docs user, Pat Needham brought up the issue on Google Docs Editors Help forum. [...] Another user, Sergii Dymchenko, said strings like "But. But. But. But. But." triggered the same response. Some also noticed putting any of the terms like "Also, Therefore, And, Anyway, But, Who, Why, Besides, However," in the same format achieved the outcome.
Once crashed, you may not be able to easily re-access the document as doing so would trigger the crash again. BleepingComputer was able to reproduce the issue last night and reached out to Google. Google told us it is aware of the bug and working on a fix.

Mona Lisa attacked with cake by 'man dressed as old lady in wheelchair'

Video shared online shows the world's most famous artwork with what witnesses suggested was cake smeared across the glass case protecting it.

Bystanders said a "man dressed as an old lady" jumped out of a wheelchair at the Louvre in Paris before attempting to smash the protective glass in front of the Leonardo da Vinci painting.

Separate footage shows the person suspected of being responsible telling bystanders in French: "Think of the planet… there are people who are destroying the planet, think about that … That's why I did it."

Roving Packs of Robot Dogs Are Coming to the Moon

...two teams are currently in a heated competition to develop a working prototype lunar rover that resembles a robot dog.

Researchers at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich (ETH Zurich) and the University of Zürich, and the Research Center for Information Technology in Karlsruhe, Germany, (FZI) both entered robot dog designs in the ESA’s lunar polar challenge, a competition for European and Canadian engineering teams to develop moon rovers capable of scouting and prospecting valuable resources such as ice in harsh and inhospitable areas of the moon like the south lunar pole.

‘It was thought that she had managed to survive from eating termite larvae, which were also found in the room.’
Hmm, they would have had to be found in the box I think so I am not sure about that. A commenter has pointed out the possibility that "Manuela" managed to come out 30 years later as "Manuel" by dint of being a different tortoise.

That has to be one of the most horribly written articles I have ever read by the way. They switch between "he" and "she" with gay abandon, rather than keeping it "she" until the big reveal. Also, what on earth does this sentence mean?

"Nathalye had read up on the mysterious creature, however, she was told he had disappeared when his mum was eight."

When who's mum was eight? I know its the Daily Record but still..:chuckle:

Please tell me we aren't really about to enter the world of the personal pronouns of a tortoise?
Sorry, should that be a txrtxise?
