Additional Testudinata news;

An 80-year-old runaway tortoise has been reunited with her family after being found by railway workers.
Lizzie Jeanes said Twin escaped from her pen in their garden in Knebworth, Hertfordshire, eight months ago.

(They don't say anything about how far the tortoise had got during the eight months, but seeing as the main train line runs through the middle of Knebworth which is a very small village, I'm guessing about 'a few hundred yards' at most)

Man bitten by alligator at Florida motel after mistaking it for dog

A guest at a motel in Florida had a close encounter with a massive 7-feet alligator which he mistook for a dog, police said.

The 49-year-old man, who has not been identified, was attacked by the gator around midnight on Tuesday when he was taking a walk in the garden of Warm Mineral Springs Motel in Sarasota County.

During his midnight stroll, the man allegedly saw the alligator's silhouette running through the bushes but assumed it was a dog with a long leash, which is why he did not move out of the way, according to WFTS-TV.

The gator then approached the man, biting him on the leg and pulling on his muscle tissue, police told WFTS-TV.

When the man escaped the gator's grasp, he said he felt it rip out a chunk of his leg.

Luckily, a Sarasota County deputy was nearby the attack for a separate call when he heard the man's screams. The deputy contacted EMS and the man was taken to a nearby hospital but has since been released.

A sergeant was able to capture the alligator which was removed from the scene by an alligator trapper. The FWC said the gator is being transferred to a nearby farm that processes alligators for hide and meat.

Alaska school thought students were getting milk for breakfast. They got floor sealant instead.
Shortly after breakfast was served, children began complaining that the milk tasted bad and was burning their mouths and throats.

Shortly after breakfast was served at 8:45 a.m. by an outside company, NANA Management Services, children began complaining that the milk tasted bad and was burning their mouths and throats, the statement said.

School and company staff discovered that it was "actually a floor sealant resembling liquid milk," the statement said. "Staff immediately directed students to stop consuming the substance and removed it."

A school official immediately contacted poison control and alerted parents, the statement said.

Of the 12 children who consumed the sealant, one sought medical treatment and two were picked up from school. They may have sought medical advice, the statement said.

How do you mix the two up though?

How do you mix the two up though?

The mix-up happened at the school district's storage facility.
[The school district] ... said that one pallet of floor sealant had been “mistakenly delivered” in Spring 2021 to an off campus warehouse where school district food supplies are stored, “at the same time as four pallets of shelf stable milk.”
“The pallet of floor sealant remained untouched in storage with other food products until this week when NMS ran short on milk and sent staff to retrieve shelf stable milk.”

Chinese electric carmaker Nio says that two people were killed when one of its vehicles fell from the third floor of its headquarters in Shanghai.
One member of staff and a person from a partner company died in the crash.
The incident took place on Wednesday at about 17:20 local time, the firm said. The people who died were inside the vehicle as it fell from the building.
Nio says it immediately started an investigation into the incident in co-operation with government officials.
The third storey area from where the car fell has been variously described as a showroom, a testing facility or a car park.
"Our company has collaborated with public security department to launch the investigation and analysis of the cause of the accident. Based on the analysis of the situation at the scene, we can initially confirm that this was an accident (not caused by the vehicle)," the company said in a statement.
"We feel very sad about this accident and would like to express our deepest condolences to our colleague and partner employee who lost their lives. A team has been set up to help the families," it added.

If I ever become an astronaut, the others would only let me stay far, far away from them.
Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your POV) the ISS has an air circulation and filtration system that constantly moves the atmosphere inside the vessel to allow for removal of moisture and reduction of 'not-spots' where there might be oxygen depletion or an increase in aggregated CO2 emissions via respiration.

As such, there is no 'far away' from them - if you drop an 'air biscuit' at one end of the ISS then all your fellow ISS-o-nauts will get a bite.
