It was my birthday recently, and one of the presents I received was a bottle of a malt whisky of which I had not heard before:

The Shackleton whisky deserves a mention.
It's a recreation of the whisky they found in polar explorers Ernest Shackleton's shed on Antarctica. It had been there about 100 years.
 
I thought one wasn't supposed to have ice with whisky...

it's like the myth that you shouldn't add water :)

it depends what you're drinking and why. And "because" is a good enough reason to do either!
