Taxidermy: Badly Done; Funny; Bizarre; Etc.

Odd pricing strategy.

Maybe because if you buy two they have to be a matching set?

In all seriousness, the Dudley Do-Right Emporium, a gift shop in West Hollywood, California run by cartoon producer Jay Ward, used to advertise audio tapes of episodes priced something like "$13 each or three for $40". Fans of Jay Ward cartoons understood perfectly.

Lol! It's definitely not for everyone.

Do they have an online shop?
It's called Riverside Taxidermy. There are photos on Google Maps of the shop and the views nearby.
We cycle along the canal between Chirk and there.

Family turns pet dog into ornamental rug to display at home

A grieving Aussie family who lost their beloved pet has found a way to preserve the dog forever.

Melbourne-based company Chimera Taxidermy shared a video on social media revealing how the skin and fur of the golden retriever had been preserved so it can be on display in the family's home.

"Beautiful old golden retriever preserved as a pelt for his family," 29-year-old owner Maddy captioned the video.

In the comments, she explained "the pelt has been tanned and turned to leather so the fur won't fall out," meaning it'll remain in good condition for years to come. ...

Speaking with Yahoo News Australia, Maddy, who's based on the Mornington Peninsula, acknowledged it was "definitely not for everyone" and that she "absolutely respects that". ...

"Pet taxidermy has only really become more popular in the last five years or so, so it's a very new thing to see for most people," she said. "Some are more of a sentimental keepsake, others are on display resting in their beds or however their owners wanted them preserved," she said of the pelts.

"Most of the requests I get are for full taxidermy mounts," she added. "Pelt preservation is less commonly asked for, but I still do quite a few pelts." ...

"I've been asked to preserve pet cats, dogs, rats, rabbits, guinea pigs, goats, pretty much any pet you can think of," she said. ...

I want this ..

(Weirdly enough, I was reading about a real species of 4 legged bird only last night in the book Man Bites Man, edited by Paul Sieveking. The 1923 newspaper report labelled it as 'The crested hoatzin, opisthocomus cristatus. It's flesh gave off an offensive odour earning it the nickname 'stink bird'. It was a large bird, 'almost as large as a peacock' ..

Check on the headboard in this clip from Count Arthur Strong!

Always mice to see Count Arthur. I mean nice to see Count Arthur.
I used to sometimes get tickets to watch the radio programs being recorded at the Komedia in Brighton where I live. It was funny enough anyway but some of the ad libbing, which didn't make it to the final cut, was beyond hysterical.

I think it was around 2005/6? Maybe?
