Maybe she was being sarcastic but the staff took her at her word?

If she has bladder problems perhaps she's used to improvising.
 
Whenever I've had to "improvise," I've needed something more capacious than one dinky little cup. In fact, it's made me wonder how I had space for anything else inside, and why my nether regions didn't cave in afterwards.
Maybe she was just being overly modest as to her own potential, and expected them to understand and not take her literally. Out of politeness, you know.
 
Happen the cup was ment as a joke to emphasize the urgency of the situation sort of thing
but due to maybe a culture difference or lack of sense of humor was not understood,
Who knows.
