There's a gimp suit man abroad in Somerset again ...
Fears 'Gimp Man' has returned after latex pervert ambushes couple walking home

A very sinister man dressed head-to-toe in a gimp suit has returned to terrorise sleepy Somerset villages.

Yatton and Claversham have been plagued by the latex-clad pest since 2018, who appears late at night to stalk and terrify the locals.

Despite arresting two people in connection with the case, police are still yet to identify or stop the man known as ‘Gimp Man’.

It now appears the shadowy figure has returned yet again to claim another victim.

Kiera Elston, 19, and her boyfriend were walking home after getting out of a taxi in Yatton at around 1am on Sunday when ‘Gimp Man’ emerged from the shadows and started walking towards them with his arms outstretched. ...

Keira’s experience is the 16th time the mysterious pervert has been sighted in the area, yet authorities are still no closer to uncovering his true identity. ...

Gimp Man was last sighted in 2021 by a couple watching TV who spotted a masked man lying in their garden watching them through the doors and chased him away. ...

An arrest: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-somerset-63393521 though it's not clear that it's the same person.

A man has been arrested after two men were approached by a person wearing dark clothing and a full face covering.
Police were called shortly before 01:00 BST on Tuesday and officers attended Millier Road in Cleeve, North Somerset.
The man, in his 30s, was arrested nearby on suspicion of causing a public nuisance. He has been released on bail.
A police spokesman said the force responded "quickly" due to similarities with previous incidents which have "caused significant alarm".
Similar sightings of a person wearing a "gimp suit" have previously been reported in Claverham, roughly a mile from Cleeve, in 2019 and 2021.
There was a further sighting in nearby Yatton earlier this year.
Officers called to Cleeve on Tuesday were told the man "rolled around on the floor" before he walked off towards Cleeve Hill Road.
A dog unit and the police helicopter assisted in a search of the area.
Acting Insp Lee Kerslake, of the neighbourhood policing team, said: "No-one has been physically harmed during any of these incidents but we know they have caused concern to the local community and we are determined to identify the individual or individuals responsible and stop them.
"We continue to keep an open mind about the intentions of the man on Millier Road and whether the incident is linked to any others."
Avon and Somerset Police are carrying out extra patrols in the area and anyone concerned is being encouraged to speak to an officer.
Conditions of the man's bail include that he must remain home between 21:00 and 06:00 and present to a police officer on request.

More gimping.

A teenager has described a "freaky" late-night encounter with a man wearing a "gimp suit".

The 19-year-old said he was approached by the man in Cleeve, North Somerset, at about 00:25 BST on Tuesday. He said the man was "unpredictable, flopping to the floor, writhing and grunting".

Wondeful. I work in Yatton! Eeeek!

Is that an actual witness photo of the gimp man? Also do we know if this occurred after the arrest of the 30-year-old suspect in the post above?

It appears to be a still from footage filmed by one of two lads on their way home from a party. The only place I can find the full video just now is here.

The witnesses pretty sanguine and cool-headed demeanour might be down the the fact that one is allegedly 6'9" tall, both were a bit pissed, and they are both...well...lads.

If it was a genuine encounter - and I'm tempted to think it was - I think there's something thoroughly enjoyable about the way what could have been an incredibly disturbing experience has all the fire taken out from under it by a bit of banter.

The arrest was made after the footage was taken - but I'm not clear if it was a direct consequence of this encounter, or was coincidence.

Thanks, that was interesting...!

I agree, their language is natural and not forced, so not a hoax in my book. You can see it is a suit so definitely rules out anything paranormal. I was surprised the gimp man left himself so vulnerable to being detained by those two lads, they could easily have overpowered him and held him until the police arrived, so sadly I think some real mental health issues at play rather than just a fetish

I love the way that around 30 seconds in - presumably in response to the lack of intended reaction from the witnesses - he basically gives it up as a bad job. Even behind all that rubber you can almost sense an air of 'bloody hell lads, I've gone to all this bother'.

:) It had a touch of "Little Britain" about it, you know those bad transvestites who would suddenly drop of character :)

Yes it’s quite funny really and he’s lucky he picked a pair of lads who laughed it off rather than beat him up.

However I’m not convinced the suit is actually rubber because a full zentai suit like that in latex has to be made to measure so is very expensive - upwards of 200 quid - and can be damaged easily, certainly not something you’d want to roll around on the ground in. It’s much more likely to be spandex which is significantly cheaper and more widely available off the peg but made of thicker material (which can be a bit of a turn off if you’re into that sort of encasement). It may, of course, be a spandex suit with a latex hood.

Don’t ask me how I know all this.

*edit* having now watched the video it‘s hard to be sure because he’s covered in mud but it looks like a spandex suit with blue nitrile gloves on top. He appears to have string tied around his waist too for some reason.

It really seems to be a serious threat to society.

Im so glad the police are doing something about it.

<puts on sarcastic voice>

Well, it might look funny from the position afforded by not being there at the time, and those two witnesses clearly took it in their stride - but, given the behaviour of the subject in the first twenty seconds or so of that footage, I can totally see how a single individual, a child, and elderly person, a lone female walking home at night, could be seriously frightened. We have absolutely no idea what is driving this person, and its a known fact that unaddressed antisocial behaviour - especially when associated with sexual matters - can escalate into something far more sinister. Personally, I'm quite happy if the police now have someone's collar felt.

gimp
1) A versatile slang term generally meant to insult an individual for perceived lack of competence, style, panache, or the ability to perform the given task at hand. Likewise, the referenced individual's actions may detrimentally affect the overall spirit of a group (whether temporarily or permanently). It can be used as a noun, verb, or adjective.
2) A derogatory term for someone who utilizes a wheelchair or walks with an abnormal gait.
3) A BDSM enthusiast who fancies full-bodied latex and or leather "gimp suits" (ala "American Horror Story", Season 1).
Also "gimp pins", used to fasten upholstery to furniture,
and "gimping", distinctive patterns of polishing created by rubbing oily rags over a painted metal surface, especially a steam locomotive.

That's a little specialist.

Joshua Hunt, 31, has been accused of two counts of affray and one count each of possession of a bladed article and committing an act of outraging public decency.

One of the affray charges and the possession of a bladed article charge related to an incident in Bleadon, near Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, on May 9.

The second affray charge related to an incident in the same area on May 7, while the outraging public decency charge related to an incident in Cleeve on October 25 last year.

An update from the Guardian, and I particularly like the following:

"Under the terms of the [interim sexual harm prevention] order, which expires in January next year, Hunt is banned from wearing a mask or possessing one in a public place, or wearing black all-in-one clothing. He was also told he must not crawl, wriggle or writhe on the ground wearing a full-body covering or mask."

That leaves a fair bit of wriggle room (sorry) about what he can do!

So can he crawl, wriggle or writhe on any other non-ground surfaces? Plenty of scope to use his imagination there. Hope he reads the small print before he puts that cozzie on!

Also, if he is banned from wearing a mask what does he do if we have another pandemic haha
