A horse was found wandering on a busy road near Cardiff. Several people tried to help it but what could they do without a horsebox? No problem, a bus driver loaded it onto his bus and drove it to where it could be collected. Love the photos! And the pun-tastic tweet from South Wales Police

"A loose horse on the 'mane' A48 Eastern Ave decided it wanted to 'stirrup' a little trouble but in doing so it risked falling 'foal' of the law," It then decided to alight an @Cardiffbus which was on it's way to the Heath Hostable!
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-51146051
Ms Stephens told BBC Wales she and her friend had been driving home when they spotted the horse near the central reservation of the road in the middle of "fast traffic".
She said it was shaken up and they managed to stop traffic and calm the animal with the help of some "lovely" passers-by and then a bus stopped.
"The police arrived and we were all a bit flummoxed of what to do because we couldn't get a horse box there in time," she said.
She said the Cardiff Bus driver suggested putting it on a bus, so they put the disabled ramp down and "it went on quite happily".
Accompanied by Ms Stephens the horse was then taken to the hospital Park and Ride stop, with one other passenger sitting close by.
"He was quite chill about it," she said.

That's so sweet! Great quick thinking there by the bus driver. He has probably saved the horse's life and prevented a serious accident.

Police dog helps man find lost wedding ring next to road

A British police dog came to a rescue of a man who tossed his wedding ring during an argument with his wife and couldn't find it at the roadside.

The West Midlands Police said Constable Carl Woodall was out on patrol with his sniffer dog, Odin, when he spotted two men with a flashlight acting suspiciously at the side of a Harbourne road about 2 a.m. Saturday.

"Apparently the man pulled the ring off and threw it in a momentary loss of temper, but very quickly regretted his actions and was desperate to find it," Woodwall said. "Our dogs are trained to sniff out human scent. The men said they'd been looking for quite some time and the ring was quite small, so I wasn't confident there'd be enough scent for Odin."

Woodall decided to try anyway, and Odin was able to sniff out the ring in some tall grass in a matter of about two minutes.

"It was in grass a couple of inches long. And of course it was pitch black. They could have spent all night and still not found it," Woodall said.

"Odin got a pat and thanks all round. It's nice to be nice and I was back on patrol in less than five minutes," he said.

Penguins Were Allowed To Roam Around An Aquarium After It Was Closed To Humans
Due to COVID-19, aka the novel coronavirus, many cities are requiring restaurants, bars, gyms, theaters, and even aquariums to close temporarily for everyone's safety. Because of this, many people are required to hunker down and stay home.

That is, unless you're a penguin. Chicago's Shedd Aquarium, which can no longer welcome visitors right now, recently shared this adorable video of one of their penguins enjoying a guided tour of the aquarium and taking in some sights and sounds they're not accustomed to.

Zoo shares adorable pictures of orangutans playing with their otter friends

orang.jpg

A zoo in Belgium has shared some amazing photos of a blossoming friendship between a family of orangutans and their otter neighbors.
The animals live together at Pairi Daiza zoo in Domaine du Cambron, as part of a program designed to maintain the primates' wellbeing in captivity.
According to zoo spokesman Mathieu Goedefroy, they "must be entertained, occupied, challenged and kept busy mentally, emotionally and physically at all times."
As part of the program, the family of Asian small-clawed otters were allowed to live in the river that runs through the enclosure that houses the orangutan family: 24-year-old father Ujian, 15-year-old mother Sari and Berani, their three-year-old son.

Controversial commentator Katie Hopkins has been permanently suspended from Twitter for violating its hateful conduct policy, the social media giant said.

Ms Hopkins, who had more than one million followers, was previously suspended in January for a week.

But Twitter said her latest ban is permanent.

Joy for Limerick family as Marti the Jack Russell comes home three years after going missing
TUESDAY, JULY 28, 2020 - 07:32 AM
RYAN O’ROURKE

Every dog has its day but for Marti the Jack Russell, it took a three-year wait. Discovered in recent days by staff at Amber garage in Charleville, she was brought to the local vet to see if she had been reported missing. Marti was on the missing list, as it turns out. In fact, she had been missing from her home in Limerick city, some 40km away, for three years. But, thanks to the staff at the garage and the local vet, she has been reunited with her family, the Hourigans from Roxboro.

Police dog finds missing mum and baby on first shift

Newly-licensed Dyfed-Powys Police dog Max discovered the pair on the edge of a ravine in a remote part of Powys on Saturday.

The mother and her one-year-old had not been seen for two days and had spent the night outdoors.

The woman's car had been found on a mountain road which gave officers a location to search from, but there was still "a vast area to cover given the amount of time she had been missing".

After an hour-and-a-half of searching involving Brecon Mountain Rescue Team, a National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter and a search expert, the mother and baby were found.

"They were safe, but cold, and appeared to have been in the area for a significant amount of time," he said.

"I must give a special mention to PC Pete Lloyd and Max, who on their very first day since completing their training together covered a significant amount of mileage in the search, eventually locating them safe."

Max and his handler PC Peter Lloyd

LOL .. although I'm not sure about this journalist's translation of the word 'belter':

“Caught a f—ing belter! Oh my God!” the woman yells on the video, using Scottish slang for an incompetent person.

I thought she shouts "What a f---ing belter! .." meaning 'brilliant!" in England at least. Maybe not in Scotland?.
It means the same in Scotland, or a cracker/beauty etc. At least it does in my part of the world.
