:omg:

Do you think the passengers had any idea of the extent of the damage to the nose while still aboard?

No, and here's why ...

If you look to either side of the second (frontal; exterior) photo you'll see no significant damage to the leading edges of the wings. You'll also notice that the heaviest body (non-window) damage is confined to the nose cone itself (the single piece forward of the seam visible where it joins the fuselage).

On an A320 (and many other aircraft with forward-looking radars) the nose cone is the primary radome. Radar (microwaves) is blocked or heavily attenuated by metal. The nose cone / radome is therefore made of composite materials rather than metal.

Amateur Radio Man Aids Girl Having Seizure 70 Miles Away

A radio enthusiast has helped save the life of a 12-year-old girl who was having a seizure 70 miles away with his quick-thinking.

Mike Everett heard desperate pleas from a man camping in a remote part of Exmoor over the airways and immediately took action.

Young May was having an severe epileptic fit and needed immediate medical help but the group could not get signals on their mobile phones.

Luckily one of their party had amateur radio equipment with them and sent out a distress call, that was picked up by a transmitter on the Mendip Hills, which then reached Mike’s house in Horfield.

Mike was the first to answer their pleas, and as other radio fans listened in from across the country, he called 999 and summoned an ambulance to Wimbleball Lake, Exmoor, just before 11pm on Friday night.

The call lasted more than ten minutes, with Mike passing on information about the 12-year-old girl from a man called Jon to the ambulance control room.

May has a form of epilepsy known as ‘cluster seizures’, and needed medical help as soon as possible.

Within three minutes, the emergency services were on their way to May - first a fire brigade's emergency responder and then an ambulance which had been some distance away on the M5.

Mike added: "The ambulance got to the young girl, and she was taken to hospital.

A young man in the Siberian city of Biysk has made up with his girlfriend in spectacular fashion by serenading her from a van - suspending by a crane outside her third-floor bedroom window.

Neighbours on Leningradskaya Street took to the Vkontakte social media site to report a lorry with a crane hoisting the van high into the rainy morning sky, with some hoping the police would "stick it" to the driver when they turned up.

But it gradually dawned that this was a special occasion, as the van was decorated with balloons. And when Yelena Gorbunova opened her window to see what was going on, she came face to face with her ex-sweetheart Alexander bearing flowers, gifts and a card to mark her 29th birthday, while a saxophonist below played her favourite song - the Aerosmith hit Dream On. ...

Tot Summer was over the moon to be re-united with Teddy thanks to big-hearted airport staff

A teddy bear was flown 200 miles for an emotional reunion with its young owner after an eagle-eyed airline worker spotted an appeal online.

Kind-hearted Loganair staff stepped in after the much-loved soft toy was accidentally left in Edinburgh Airport.

"We need to get this Teddy to the airport right away!"
"What is it?"
"It's a large building with passengers but that's not important right now!"

Army veteran who offered homeless man a cigarette in street stunned to discover he's his long lost brother he'd last seen 30 years ago

Father-of-six Roy Aspinall, 36, was leaving a Remembrance Sunday service when he saw the man and wandered over.

Roy, who served in the Queens Lancashire Regiment, felt "something in his features" made him curious about rough sleeper so he sparked up a conversation.

As they were chatting it suddenly dawned on Roy that he was taking to Billy White - the long-lost brother he last saw as a new-born baby in a pram.

Both were sons of Lorraine White, but due to family splits Roy was raised by an aunt while Billy stayed with their mum until being taken into care when he was 10 years old.

Now Billy, 28, has moved in with Roy, from Wigan, Greater Manchester, and they are catching up after almost three decades apart.

Saw this on TV. The two men were shown hugging near the monument. They were interviewed and seem really happy to have found each other. Apparently it was the eyes that gave them away, a family likeness!

This man could have been a millionaire ...

Steve was born missing one arm from the elbow down, after building himself an arm with a working grip action using a 3D printer, he decided to build arms for children also missing half an arm ..

For free ..

Bionic arms cost anywhere between sixty and one hundred and fifty thousand pounds, Steve's got it down to twenty quid and is funded by parents fund raising, not only that, Steve's put the specs for his arms online for free download to anywhere in the world so all you need is access to a 3D printer and twenty quid :) ... he doesn't want to think of any kid anywhere in the world not being able to get one of his arms for free .. get your sniffle tissues ready (it's facebook sorry)

He's a leg end .. and the kids even get to choose their own colours .. if I was a little kid who needed and wanted one of these, I'd go for iron man red and yellow myself .. I see Steve himself has gone for the Luke Skywalker look ..

One day, they might even get an Army of Darkness hand :chain: ..

.. or this one ..
