These 3 threads all deal with mysteriously appearing water / puddles indoors, and I recommend they be merged:

appearing water
http://forum.forteantimes.com/index.php?threads/appearing-water.2351/

Water Ghost
http://forum.forteantimes.com/index.php?threads/water-ghost.835/

Unexplained Water
http://forum.forteantimes.com/index.php?threads/unexplained-water.37546/
(THIS ONE IS IN THE IHTM SECTION)

The last one is in IHTM, but it turned into a general discussion worthy of being merged (IMHO; YMMV).
Done, but left the IHTM one.

I'll take a look at these later (the composition of the threads, not just the titles), but my initial impression is that although they overlap at time there's some useful distinction.

I don't want to get into the habit of merging threads just because their titles feature the same words.

It's not just the titles. At the least the Ghosts on the underground could be merged and the Palce Spur Line is the very first first post on Underground.

Yith is of course right - we had a spell of compulsive merging a number of years ago (many on here may remember it) often on the basis of one shared word. I had to separate a huge number of them again which is somewhat more difficult than splicing them in the first place.

Most merges suggested are sensible, but each on its own merit.

... Don't know how we managed to have two running concurrently for so long without it being noticed.
(1) They were located in different forum sections.
(2) One of them started as a thread on modern art being accidentally discarded rather than commentary on modern art in general.
