Her Legs Were Insured For One Million Dollars

There is a plot device used in many old shows and in Hollywood advertising, where famous stars had their legs insured for a considerable amount of money. I seem to recall Lloyd's of London being the usually named insurer.

I believe this sort of thing was a regular ballyhoo tactic of the past, but I don't know the particulars of the reality. So here are my questions:

1. What stars had some bodypart famously insured?

2. What parts were insured? Just legs, or other things?

2. Did any star actually injure said bodypart during the time they were insured?

I'm sure Mark King of Level 42 had his hands insured for £1m.

Edited to add:

I've just read that it was actually his thumb, which was insured for £3m.

Back in the day my father surprised my mother with the gift of a canary, presented in front of the entire family.
Mother found this a little awkward and said 'Hasn't got thin legs!'
To which Dad replied 'What do you expect for 2/6, Betty Grable?'

“Betty Grable’s legs

The insurance policy that inspired the phrase “million dollar legs,” though technically that’s incorrect: 20th Century Fox executives insured the star’s stems for $1 million per leg. She became something of an archetype: Other stars to insure their legs include Tina Turner, David Beckham and, yep, Michael Flatley—aka the Lord of the Dance.”

Isn't Lloyd's more of a broker, and not an insurer per se?
It is an insurance market.

So correctly, the phrase could be "Insured at Lloyds of London."

And it is also possible to say "Insured by Lloyds of London."

Because that would refer to being insured through one or more of the syndicates that operates there as part of the structure of Lloyds.

Note that Lloyds themselves have a web page called...

"What we insure"

Why has no one mentioned boobs yet. I'm very disappointed in you lot.

Dolly, maybe.
Not so - from Dolly herself.

"It's not true," Parton clarifies with a laugh.

But Parton explains that she's been joking about insuring her boobs for years, inspired by another star who insured her legs for $1 million: Actor and pinup star Betty Grable.

"Years ago, it was Betty Grable, or one of the great famous stars that was famous also for her legs? At that time, I said, 'Well, maybe I should get my boobs insured since I'm famous for them.'"

But, she adds, "It was just a joke. I did not do that."
