Okay, I know this is similar to the other poll, but what I'm wondering is--how many of us actually make a habit of watching MH--whether we believe it's true or not?

I have to admit--while I'm pretty skeptical of the whole psychic phenomena thing, I've always loved a ghost story (true or not!) and I do like watching MH. (Plus as an American I love getting a look-in at all those old mansions and pubs! ;) )

So---'fess up, folks, don't be afraid to answer!

Do you enjoy watching MH???

And please feel free to add comments! :blissed:

I watch a bit of it now & then, in the hope that Yvette will spontaneously dematerialise.

And Synchro - I live a few miles away from one of those old black & white pubs, and have been known to go for a pint there. Nothing yet to report apart from warm beer and overpriced nuts, but I live in hope.

Ive only just realised in the last few weeks its on FTN pretty much every night, I'm trying to come off it tho. The Gladiators/ Colin Fry double prog/ Most Haunted combo gets me every time. I keep trying to get an early night but to no avail. I have no idea how old the MHs are, I guess its one of the first series. The last 2 have been sooo funny, very obviously faked. Having said that, I've seen some convincing episodes from other series which have been very scary.

I like it because you're guaranteed either very funny comedy or scary horror, and I like both.

Rarely, these days. I used to watch every episode without fail, but gradually the histrionics just got too much. Besides, once little details like discarded scripts and Derek getting caught bodging it emerged then the sheen sort of dulled, for me at least.

Some of the early ones were a lot more down-beat, like they were actually trying to get some hard evidence as opposed to keeping us entertained, but nowadays it's an extended episode of Scooby Doo :(.

I do watch it occasionally for a laugh, though (as Cassandra said, the comedy element can be terrific.)

They are actually getting MORE phenomena now that they don't have Derek there.

I thought it was sad and a little cruel to put this man on televison when he was clearly either mentally unstable or the entities were having a detrimental effect on him. Poor guy.

Even so since he went they have had spirit rappings and wierd things they didnt' get with Derek around.

I saw one recently which was the best one i have seen yet. They were in some old building, and in the basement under a gymnasium where there was no one supposedly in that part of the building besides them. They were asking a spirit to make a noise to let them know it heard them, and something was definitely responding with a knocking noise. They looked genuinely convinced it was not being faked (they'd have to be pretty devious and good actors-or being faked out themselves in my opinion). It was the first time on that show where i couldn't easily write it off as making something out of nothing.

I picked 'Never', as I used to watch it when it first on, and gradually just got bored of it - the last one I watched was the Hogmanay live one with Dick Turpin, and that's only because we were waiting to go out.

My feelings on old Del have also been well documented on here previously.

Dick Turpin? LOL.. wasn't that the one where Degs made a huge gaff and yelled at the top of his scouse voice "Mary loves Dick!!" ?

I've posted this on another thread - but heyho

I've watched MH from the very first episode and have even attended a few of the lives including the first one at Dudley castle.

I went from being an avid believer to a Critical Thinker thanks to the very stuff you guys have said made you switch off - Derek getting caught out- scripted live shows etc etc

Maybe it's because I feel like they've brought me on my journey to the light

I've seen bits and pieces, but it always looked like a light entertainment show to me rather than anything to be taken seriously.

As a person who has strong sympathies with Libertarian politics and suchlike, I obviously detest and aborr the politics of National Socialism, but when I watched a few episodes of HH and Most Hunted, I began to feel a wave of personal hatred for these people who invade our televisions with screaming ambitious presenters, clinging on to their careers, and over acting mediums claiming to be in touch with previous occupiers of the properties they were investigating(Also clinging) thoughts like 'extermination' sprung to mind. I will admit that i'm an open minded sceptic about issues related to the paranormal, but this type of shit needs to be flushed down the toilet with bleach poured down afterwards along with the scum who present it. sorry but all involved in this programme are screwing television finances. Exterminate, Exterminate.

Demonic possession, could it be? :eek!!!!:

Best ask Derek? ;)

Not possession, but being pissed off, ask derek he is makin the dosh

I dont believe in ghosts, BUT i want someone to prove to me they exist. Because of this I never watch the very poor quality MW, bad acting, sensationalism, barnum bunkum, unprovable "facts" from the "mediums" (I use this term loosly), dust near the camera lens is claimed as orbs, the MW interactive has viewers clkaiming they have seen things that just arent there (so how can they).

At least Ghostwatch was both entertartaining and claimed it was made up!

I saw some episodes on tv in Canada before analog tv was discontinued lol. The histrionics were stupid, but I enjoyed visiting the locations and learning some of the history of the building or area.

My ex used to watch it. She's a big believer, while I don't often give much of a thought to whether ghosts and demons are literally real. The earlier episodes we saw were atmospheric, and while I never took it very seriously, there was that niggling feeling of 'what if'. Then all that stuff came out about Derek being fed false information, and my ex lost interest in it so I didn't have to watch it any more. She watched that Colin Fry thing, too, until I came across an account of the 'trumpet incident '. I can understand people being fascinated by these things, but they have to be beyond reproach. With the history of exploitation the mediumship gig has, any hint of fraud ruins it.

I watched bits of it, I don't know why. I must be a masochist. Its so obviously faked and a vehicle for the presenters, similar to other shit like "Help! My House is Haunted".
I first heard of it on the now thankfully disbanded UK Ghost Investigators group. At the time I didn't have satellite TV and could only guess what they were talking about. Then I went on an "investigation" with said numpties and I was curious to know who these people were that were being talked about in reverential tones and dewy eyes looks of wonderment.
Then I saw it and thought it was crap. I still watch clips when there is absolutely nothing else on the TV and think "how the **** did they fool so many people?" and "why did people believe this crud?" Yes - I must hate myself - there's no other reason.
The damage done to the paranormal research movement has been incalculable - from dozens of "Most Haunted Wannabes" groups who follow the formula down to a tee, to the pronouncement that orbs had no rational explanation etc etc - but the worst are those venues who have discovered that they can charge a fortune to these people, knowing that they'll pay whatever tariff is dangled in front of the eyes - and this also prices out the genuine enthusiasts.

I watched half an episode once. I'd enjoyed the British TV programme 'Ghosthunters' and had thought it was going to be up to the same standards. As soon as the histrionics started I knew I'd made the wrong assumption and gave up!

I love Ghost Hunters and still watch it from time to time. Its upsetting to see a programme that took the subject very seriously being supplanted by the dross that is Yvie et al.
